Melnor 4-Zone Bluetooth Water Timer - My Review
I bought 4 of these to accommodate my needs. I am very happy with them with a few minor issues, which honestly may have been of my own fault. One big issue is that the device is NOT waterproof. If you intend on using this outside as i did and you let it set in / or be exposed to excessive water , while it is water resistant , it will fry the device. I put a small plastic tarp over the devices and that solves the problem . The programing is very straight forward , and it works thru your phone with the Melnor app. Also, you cannot leave it out over the winter which only make sense as the water in it would freeze. The other thing about the device is that to my knowledge, there is no rain sensor available on the device, so i've had days where I was watering my yard in the rain.. LOL I used 3 of these devices connected to multi-opening valve to create a 12 zone system and saved myself some nice bucks in the process. I would highly recommend the device,, they work great. Great idea, but quality is a problem
Setup was easy. The unit came with a single screen filter (not 5 as shown in photos), but it won't work on outside faucets that release water after being turned off (freeze prevention). Melnor took 2 weeks to respond with a curt, we don't have any other washers, response. After using for 2 weeks, like some of the other online reviews, the unit began leaking below the screw on fitting. Nothing had been changed or touched during this time, only the water pressure was on. This is obviously a weak point on the unit. As far as Bluetooth goes, yes, you have to be within 30 feet to make changes, but I was able to make setting changes from inside my home, with the outside unit near a window. Melnor needs better quality control and better customer service. I won't be buying Melnor products again and returning all that I have recently purchased.
