Lots of fun!
This Make a Wind Chime Kit was so much fun for the girls. The results were an extremely cute and personalized little wind chime. This would make such a nice gift, not just for kids but for adults too. And the wind chime itself can also be a gift. The girls are giving their homemade wind chime to Grandpa for Christmas. The kit comes with a paintbrush, 4 chimes, clear filament for the chimes, twine for the base string, the 2 terra cotta mini pots each 1.5 inches tall, and 5 paint colors. Blue, yellow, pink, lavender, and white. The girls followed the chart and mixed yellow and blue to get green. And then also used a black permanent marker to draw their designs before they painted them. I helped them to thread the string for the chimes because that took some talent but the overall project was just so much fun. They had fun and I had fun helping them.

Mission Impossible!!!
I can not imagine a child attempting this project. I am left with a splitting headache after finally finishing it. My grandchildren gave up after a short time and were not interested. So I was on my own. And believe me it was not an easy task. First of all they don't give you enough material to accomplish constructing this wind chime. Would it kill them to give another few more inches of filament to string up the chimes? I ended up using dental floss because the tiny bit of filament they gave was not long enough. The pots needed more than one coat of paint. But there was not enough paint to do that. And while on the subject of the pots... they are tiny 2 inch white ceramic pots and not terra cotta like the box states. Some knowledge of mixing colors would be handy because they only give you blue, white, yellow, orange and purple. So if you have a design in mind that requires other colors you'll have to either mix them or use your own like I did. After I finally got this wind chime put together I was very disappointed to find that it doesn't chime. The only sound it makes is the pots hitting each other. It was very frustrating and in the end disappointing. I would not recommend it at all. It would be especially frustrating for a child.

    Super fun activity for the kids
    The Make a Windchime set has everything you need for your child to make their own designed windchime. It has 2 tiny terra cotta pots to paint, paint, paint brush, chimes, twine and thread. My daughter had fun painting the pots. She just turned 8, so I had to help with the threading and tying. She is happy with her creation, and it's going to hang on the door until I get a hook for the house. The metal chimes are very small and make a very high pitch noise when they hit together, so it's not as pretty of a sound like larger versions but since my kiddo did it, I love it.

    Fun craft to do
    Toysmiths make a wind chime kit is really fun for the kids to do! It comes with all the things necessary to make a chindchime including the paint and brushes. My girls had such a fun time making this for their grandma! It is put together very well and we definitely recommend this product!

    Very cheaply made kit
    I've recently received the “4M Make A Wind Chime Kit” and thought it was pretty cute. This little kit is very basic and nothing too exciting. I was a little disappointed in the paint that came with it though. While we were painting the little terra-cotta pots, the paint was not very bright, we had to use a lot of coats and it still wasn't that great. We ended up just grabbing the paint that we had in the house and a couple of permanent markers to decorate it and it turned out 1000 times better. This kit came with two terra-cotta pots, five little paint containers, a paintbrush, cord, line and chime rods. It was super easy to put together. The color of paint that came in this kit were blue, yellow, purple, white and pink. Once we made this little wind chime we hung it up and the little chimes actually did make noise when the wind blew and my daughter was pretty excited about it. So I wouldn't say this kit was an entire loss but I just wish the supplies were of better quality. I would have been sad if we didn't have anything on hand to decorate these pots other than what came in this kit.

    Kind of small!
    We have a collection of windchimes out on the back patio so I figured this would be fun for my daughter to do.. (she loves painting ceramics etc!) Well, she unpacked it and we noticed how tiny the little pots were!! Unfortunately she left the room a minute and my granddaughter swooped in and painted them in no time! She wired the little chimes together and up it went! I really don't hear them at all in the breeze or wind; I think it's just too small! Even for a young child, I'm sure they'd want to hear SOMETHING!!! Oh well, it was certainly a fun time!! Thx!!

    Simple, small and easy
    I love crafts for kids, especially when the weather is yucky it just brings a ray of sunshine in the house to be able to sit down and do something both fun and productive together. These wind chimes are perfect for that rainy/snowy day fun. It doesn't take long to paint and assemble them, but the kids feel so accomplished after doing so. This kit comes with two little terra cotta type pots, and I do mean little. This wind chime isn't going to be heavy or giant. That's okay though. If this is a craft that you're doing with your kids you definitely want something that they can FINISH. Anything too big can be intimidating to be successful, so this is the perfect win. I will state that I'm not sure how weather proof this little wind chime might be. I would suggest after the paint dries that you seal it with a clear spray. That is just what I did. I don't know if it's necessary, but I want anything the kids and I make memories doing together to last. This is one of those things that I hope to have around when they're older. This kit includes the following: 2 little pots paint and paintbrush 4 little chimes String Now, to make this last longer I traded out the string with some of the picture hanging wire I had already at the house with my own craft stuff. It isn't necessary. I just thought I'd make this a keepsake and a little more durable.

    Fun and easy to make and assemble
    My preschooler had so much fun making this wind chime! She was able to utilize her fine motor skills to paint and help with assembly. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. I was afraid the paint would be dried out from being packaged for who knows how long, but it was very smooth and easy to apply. She loved painting the pots herself. We let it dry for an hour or two before we assembled it together. My daughter was so proud of her work. We currently have it hanging in her room, but will put it outside once the weather gets warmer. Great idea for a craft project!

    Fun hands on project
    This kit is amazing. It is a fun art hands on project, my children and my self talked about how to design and make it our own. What makes this ao much fun we made each chime different. My kids love be individual and show themselves in are projects. The paint holders are easily open and no tipping or spilling. Easy to follow instructions. Once dryed from the paint we assembled the metal chimes. We hung our art chime project outside my back window. Everytime the wind blows we remember how much fun this was to make. Memories with our children are priceless. Fantastic family project!

    Fun activity
    This is a fun activity for a rainy or inclement weather day. My granddaughter just absolutely loved that she could design it herself. I gave it 4 stars because we ran out of paint, we tried to cover the whole thing in paint, then do designs. We ended up just using some leftover paint we had. Other than that it's a great diy project. Other than being a little shy on paint everything else you need comes with it.
