So easy to use
This is my first time owning a laptop of any kind. I have always used a traditional desktop or my phone for anything "computerish". I am still learning, but this Acer Chromebook Spin makes it so easy. I have used Chrome as my search engine for years. All I had to do for setup with the Chromebook was to enter my Google credentials and it did the rest. All of my favorites were ready for display. A couple of features I really like are the touch screen and the spin. I find it very helpful for recipe searches and baking, especially for the holidays. Instead of running back and forth to my desktop to see ingredient amounts and instructions, I key in my recipe search, select, and spin. The Chromebook stands on end and I scroll through the recipe in real time with my fingertip on the screen. See attached pictures.

BUYER BEWARE!!!
I just purchased my ACER chromebook in January 2021 (today it is March 23rd 2021) and my "Gorilla Glass" screen is CRACKED! Mind you I've been working on this chromebook all morning and it hasnt left my side so your guess is as good as mine on how this actually happened. The product has not been hit, dropped, damaged, ect. I'm writing this review after contacting ACER customer service and being told "cracked screens" are not covered under the manufacture warranty-- mind you, this product is LESS THAN TWO MONTHS OLD!!! Extremely displeased and I will never purchase another ACER product in my lifetime.

    Low Color Depth, Fragile Finish
Two major flaws with this Chromebook: The display color depth is either broken or considerably lower than any other Chromebook I've ever worked with; There is visible color banding when displaying even stock images and particularly when playing video. I reported this to Acer and they wanted me to send the unit in "for repair." The tech I chatted with didn't understand the issue. The second flaw is the finish on (at least) the exterior of the Chromebook. It seems to be atomically thin, as after the first trip in my backpack parts of the finish on the lid were abraded down to the base plastic. Never had this happen before.

    Disappointed
I bought it in mid August. It is now Oct 26 and the screen is not showing anything. I can see the backlight, hear notifications but nothing else. I have papers to write and exams to do and now I have no laptop to do them on. I'm extremely disappointed and upset. I'll never buy another product from this company or support this brand.

Great for those who travel or want to couch surf
I have owned Apple products for 15 years so I thought getting an Acer Chromebook was going to be challenging with many learning curves, I was wrong. I really like this tablet and its very easy to use. I will admit I prefer my desktop with a big screen, but it's not portable. I have an older, really slow, I-pad 4th generation. I got this to replace the I-pad and I love it, no regrets. I love the touch screen, though sometimes it's not as sensitive to touch but it might be my fingers as touch screens are not always responsive to fingers. I have a felt tip stylus pen that I keep in my travel bag. I plan to try a blue tooth stylus pen but do not have one yet. I like the built in keyboard but there is an adjustment to typing on a condensed keyboard, but way better than the i-pad keyboard where you lose half the screen or its built into your protective cover and needs charging or batteries. The other nice feature is the Chromebook's piano hinged keyboard can flip all the way around if you do not want to use it. For me this is the best of two worlds in that I get compact computer features in an i-pad size tablet that I can take with me on the go. It's also lightweight. The WIFI is very responsive picking up a strong signal, and the processor is super fast. The battery life is also fantastic. It also has a camera that takes decent photos or videos. You can attach a wireless mouse or use the track pad as there is one usb-a style port and one usb-c port. There is a volume control on the side and a plug for headphones. Set up was easy and it prompts you exactly what to do, it took about 15 minutes and I was up and running. I am still getting the hang of using the Google Play Store to purchase Apps. The tablet uses i-cloud storage and only about 20 GB of that storage is available for apps. If you are new to Chromebooks, or computers in general, this is more of a tablet not a full laptop replacement. My husband has a dell laptop that he can take with him when we travel, but its heavy and bulky, this is not. The Chromebook costs a fraction of a laptop or ipad! The only negatives to the Chromebook are limited storage, they are not recommended for gaming, no Microsoft Office, tho I use Doc which was a free app, and there is no video editing. Other than that it's a portable, affordable alternative to an i-pad.

Perfect for my needs, but maybe not for yours...
Let me start by saying I had no idea what a Chromebook was until this sweet little treat showed up. I also had no idea there was a serious lack of buttons that are normally on other computers, nor did I realize the operating system wasn't really something I could use for downloading programs. So there's that. I used this to make Christmas presents for my family - I had an idea to use this Acer Chromebook as a tablet where I would trace my grandmother's signature (who we lost during Covid after we had 'socially distanced' from her for six months - quite a bummer for everyone) for some custom ornaments. I found out quickly that this isn't a Windows operating system - I had to download a Linux app in order to install Inkscape (which I used for the actual tracing). which might be a challenge for some folks. The touchscreen was quite responsive, which I appreciated with such a delicate project. Cons: No SD card slot / micro SD card slot No easy way to download actual programs (it's not Windows and it's not Apple, but Linux can sortakinda be used if you are willing to dig deep into the Google rabbit hole) No caps lock / delete button / a few other's that I'm forgetting. Only one USB port, so be prepared to have a Bluetooth mouse or throw everything into a cloud to get it off the laptop. Tinny sounding speakers - I only used them once, and I totally understand based on the size of the laptop, but be prepared to use earbuds! Pros: Very lightweight Responsive touchscreen Easy to get to the shortcut menu for missing keys that I've grown accustom to having on a computer USB-C charger (not as apt to "waller out" as the guy at a big box computer store told me in college when my old laptop stopped charging unless I had a stack of socks under the cord) Great price point for my needs Easy to convert from laptop to tablet functions Pair easily with Bluetooth earbuds and mouse All in all, I love this laptop more now than I did when I first got it. Also, it made everyone in my family happy when they got the ornaments of my grandmother's John Hancock, which was nice. I also love how portable it is, as well as how handy it is to flip the screen over and BOOM : now you have a tablet. I'd recommend this to anyone as long as they have some knowledge of Linux coding if they want to download an actual program onto it.

    Excellent Chromebook
This is a high quality, reliable, long battery life Chromebook. The touchscreen is great and responsive; the display is very clear resolution with adjustable brightness. The battery life is long, and the weight is extremely light with a very thin profile (see pictures). Keyboard has a light touch and a touchpad so you don't need a mouse especially with the touchscreen as well. It has a USB port (see pictures) for accessories. Setup is easy and quick. Highly recommend this product if you're looking for a browser/app based device that is highly portable, but with a very readable screen (vs a tiny screen of a phone), and long battery life.

    Better than I was expecting
I love the size and the fact that I can flip it around and use it as a touch screen tablet. The keyboard has a nice feel to it and so far the Processor is very fast. But there are some Cons to Chromebook... 1. It only has one USB slot... So you can't use a mouse and flashdrive at the same time. 2. The touch screen is not the best... I touch some things multiple times before it would respond... So I started to use a mouse and that makes things a lot easier and faster. But all in all I like this Chromebook and it is very easy to carry around. Just wish it had at least two USB slots.

    Good, if you like Chromebook
Chromebooks are not real laptops. Chromebooks don't download the full versions of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Nearly everything works off apps, like a cell phone, and saves online. For me, that makes them useless for work. I use macros and many shortcuts with my Microsoft products, so there's no substitute for the real product. Plus the apps on the Chromebook are slightly different than apps used on my phone, so that causes problems. There's no Start button, and the shut down is on the right of the tray rather than left where it's been for the 40+ years I've own a computer. That being said, this particular Chromebook worked great for what I used it for: surfing the internet, watching the news, and ordering groceries. It holds a battery charge for several days, which is wonderful! Interestingly the electrical cord also charges my Android phone, so that's a plus. I love how the Chromebook flips back so it can be used as a tablet. The touchscreen works very well, and I can connect a mouse. So, as an added device, I say it's worth it. As a replacement for a laptop, not so much.

    Lightweight and Convenient
This is my first lightweight versatile computer and I love it. I am used to bulkier laptops such as the toshiba brand. This laptop is nice because of the different ways it can take shape. It can be used at a more professional work setting or a more comfortable setting. You can fold it into a tablet shape while lying on the couch binge watching Netflix. It is much more convenient then having a big bulky laptop sitting in your hands or lap. You can set up different accounts on the device. My husband and I both have our own logins. This way we can have the desktop organized the way we want and not have anything that is unnecessary to us. I was concerned about not having Microsoft office because I have always had laptops with it, but that surprisingly has not been an issue because you can download Microsoft apps to view, edit and create documents. The battery life has lasted a long time too. We do not have to plug it in for several days. We do only use it for a couple hours a day though.
