Sand tube vs. cement blocks
First time I used was with cement blocks. Hard to fit hooks from bongi straps into holes with blocks in place. Aquired sand tube, 70#, which is close to weight of two blocks. Works great, no noise and easier to fasten. If you need more weight get empty sand bags and fill to your needs.

Great equipment
 I was waiting for a good weather with right texture of the soil before I tried this nice 40" Agri-Fab spike Aerator. I have used it for more than a week and I am pretty impressed with its performance. The equipment was very easy to assemble and took my husband about 25 minutes to assemble from opening the box to getting it attached to riding mower. We watched some videos and followed the instructions and it was a very quick and easy installation. I like growing vegetables in my garden and this aerator has made my job so easier. I am hoping that the plant food that I use in my garden will be absorbed more sufficiently. We also used it to aerate the lawn before applying weed and feed for this year. We get a lot of weed in half an acre land. Because of deep penetration of weed and feed we are hoping to get less weed and greener lawn this year. So far, I am very pleased with this equipment for making our lawn care easy.

    40" Spike Aerator
    For the cost, it is an excellent aerator. For my relatively small yard with trees, etc, it is small enough to maneuver, but large enough to get it all quickly.

    Well built product with only one low concern.
    product seems well built, was a breeze to assemble. Only concern I have are the plastic spacers used on the actual aerators and axle. They will probably not last as long as a better design with actual bushings would. Would have given 5 stars except for this. I guess time will tell about these. You must use weights to get any aeration but this was expected.

    While the spike aerator is a very good choice, I wish the spikes could be replaced with an option for plugs. I was not aware that it came on assembled but I did learn a lot about putting it together and all of the parts. It is easy to use and works really well.

    it works just as described. heavy duty construction. easy to assembly, needed help to compress springs.small wheels make grooves when weighted down with 2 cement blocks and transporting to different area.wider wheels would help a lot. handle to lower it down off wheels is problematic and should be redesigned so it is upright, instead of being flat on ground. it makes turning difficult in tighter areas.

    Best investment in your yard!
    Absolutly perfect for my yard! I have a southern hard pack yard, 1 acre, that i got this for. I had to make a couple passes, but the spikes held up, nothing bent, even going over large above ground tree roots. Very sturdy, I expect to get 10+ years out of it. Local lawn service wanted the same $$ for one aeration as this thing cost. I will recommend to anyone!

    Works great on our large lawn!
    The Agri-Fab spike Aerator has been a wonderful addition to our lawn care and maintainence equipemnt. The equipment was very easy to assemble out of the box with the step by step instructions that were clear and understandable. The product seems to be made of quality, sturdy materials that should last. Once assembled, hooking it up to our lawn tractor was also very effortless. The aerator moved smoothly behind the lawn tractor, creating even spiking in the lawn. I did add a couple of blocks to have some additional weight, creating a deeper penetration into the soil. Overall, I'm very pleased with the performance and quality of this product.
