New printer
My old Brother printer lasted 5 years and was great. This one is faster and has a few more features. I hope it lasts as long.

Sleep mode is horrible
Apparently some operating systems cannot wake up the in-sleep-mode-forever printer. Additionally according to your website, I have to press the 'start' and 'option' button on the printer to disable the sleep mode. However, if I am not blind, THERE ARE NO SUCH BUTTONS ON THE PRINTER. SO PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO DISABLE THIS ANNOYING SLEEP FEATURE. Please update your user manual so that I can disable this function. But no need to let me know, I am discarding this useless box.

    STILL HAPPY WITH BROTHER
This a great laser printer that suits all of our printing needs. We connect wirelessly in the studio and can print from our phones as well. It prints relatively quickly with rich black text. I have used Brother printers for years and have been very happy with all of them.

    Great printer
Have had this printer for several years and have over 15,000 pages printed. Recently replaced drum and found easy to do. Only recommend using Brother drum & toner when needed. Hope I never need to replace this printer used entirely for personal activities.

Stopped working when we upgraded our router
My husband is a PC guy and I am a Mac user. This was the perfect printer of us until we upgraded our home router. Now, the Printer no longer connects with the WiFi router. As a result, Himself is able to connect to the printer via wire and use it, but I am unable to get the printer to connect with my Mac even when I have it connected directly. We also cannot print from our iPhones or iPads. So very, very disappointed, because when it worked, it worked great.

    Pretty good printer
This printer works as expected. I did have trouble setting up the WiFi connection with my work laptop, but I was able to set up WiFi connection with my own desktop. I'm not sure why the laptop set up couldn't find my network or the printer. It of course works with the printer USB cable. I did as others suggested and turned off Deep Sleep and adjusted the toner to "continuous" . Also, was able to print from my iPhone, but it was hit or miss and I'm not sure what prevented the printing, when it didn't print.

Much preferred over a inkjet printer.
Previous printer was a Canon Ink Jet. Too much ink and too many problems. I called 4 times for support but they could not get my problems solved. Very happy with this printer. I do wish I could copy with it. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a reasonably priced laser printer.

    Great value
The wireless installation was a snap for both Windows 8.1 and Apple Sierra operating systems.. The printing is sharp and fast. It's footprint is even smaller than I anticipated, and smaller than a top rated Samsung. We can use it at home and it's perfect for us. We have an old inkjet for times we need color, but 95% of the time we can use this laser instead. This is a replacement for a very similar spec, highly rated Samsung black-and-white laser that I worked several hours on trying to get it set up on both our Windows and Apple systems, even with phone support from both of those companies. We never did get it to work with the Apple, so we returned it for this one instead. This is the first Brother we've had, and the first laser printer of any kind. It prints the first page in a matter of 6-8 seconds, with no trouble with wirelessly waking from deep sleep, and it prints as quickly as advertised. It hasn't disconnected from our Wi-Fi yet and we've been using it for a couple weeks now. Graphics are not the absolute best, but are none-the-less very good so I can't downgrade it for that. I absolutely love this printer and will now always had a laser for my workhorse, and an inkjet for the few color printouts I occasionally need.

    Well recommended with few drawbacks
This printer is highly recommended by independent sites for ease of use and stability. This is your printer if you need a lot of black and white printouts, a home office situation for example. Be aware, this machine has a huge power draw when the print job begins. I recommend a quality surge protector if your circuit breaker at home is prone to uneven power, and don't connect it to an uninterrupted power supply unless it has non-battery connected outlets.

Poor wireless connection with Macintosh system
Initial out of the box set-up worked fine for setting-up wireless printing. Although when the printer would go into Deep Sleep mode, it failed to wake up when sending a file from my macbook pro. After much online searching and firmware updating (if needed?) I had to manually set-up the printers IP address using a different driver. Problem is that this printer does not pair well with the macintosh Bonjour protocol, and Brother does not seems to have a simple fix. (or at least one that was easy to find on their extremely complicated, and non-user-friendly website) Be warned and I suggest to read other review to this issue. It seems to be working fine for me now - but took hours to find solution.

    So far so good.
I have not had this very long, but I am pleased with it so far. I do have to set the ink in the ink saving mode or it tends to be too dark for photos. The light weight plastic on it seems a bit fragile so I would be a little more cautious moving it around. Over all it's great. It's not cumbersome with a tray sticking out at the end. It's a neat square-ish printer, and everything is internal. It's a space saver around here. I have not tried the wireless function. I don't need that. So, I can't rate it yet.
