Great color great B+W,very sharp.
Superb color on 1st print out of the box using Image garden, very sharp prints. If you learn to use your Print Driver completely you will be very satisfied with this printer. Mine is USB connected on an iMac.Replaced a broken Pro-100 with this and its all I needed...

Printer great, software bad
Great quality prints. Eats ink fast but it's worth it. The software is absolutely terrible for who this printer is made for. The software is so basic and limited that it's frustrating, I'd thought canon would have something better to pair with such a great machine. The software has the functionality but it's pretty poorly set up and not at all intuitive. This is a pro-sumer level printer and as such should have something more powerful print handling.

    Excellent printing.
Excellent printing, both text and photos. Although I have to admit that I miss the conveniences of my previous all-in-one.

Great tool to print my personal photos with
I just got this printer a few weeks ago but I absolutely love it! The quality of the photos is amazing. The only thing I didn't anticipate was how big it really would be on my desk. I can't wait to share the beautiful pictures I printed with family and friends.

    PIXMA iP8720 Enhancements
I have always used Canon printers for printing my home photography work. The PIXMA iP8720 is replacing a PIXMA iP6700D which has served me well for 14 years. The iP8720 print quality is superior to the previous model and the ability to print on larger size media is a terrific upgrade. I am also pleased that the standard Black print tank is a double-width which will provide longer periods between cartirdige replacement.

    Curiosly doubtful
I am enjoying my new pixma ip87220 it is easy to set up, no problems with wireless hook up. For the short time I've used this printer I highly rate it over other photo printers I have owned. I've done a few 8.5 x11 portraits and the results were amazing they were as near lab quality as possible Canon you have out done yourself with the Pixma ip 8720. Great product. I highly recommend it.

    Long overdue upgrade
So far so good, mostly. I did notice that trying to print on paper other than letter (11x17) didnt work with the canon selphy phone app. The printer did get caught in some kind of loop while printing one time and didnt complete the print job and was difficult to clear the print queue. Most of the time it prints well with good quality. The photos printed on photo paper have turned out beautifully.

    Wonderful printer
This replaced the ip6600D that I had for ten years before it finally died. The i8720 looks stylish, and I love the ability to print on larger paper. I like being able to completely close the printer so I don't have to worry about dust or pet hairs getting inside. The photos I have printed from my 20D look amazing. I have several photos hanging on my walls, and they look like professional prints. The pigment inks let you decoupage prints onto canvas or other surfaces for craft projects, without the colors running or bleeding. This printer seems to get into terrible disagreements with Photoshop if the file color is set to RGB. Standard print will cause colors to come out way too dark. The print profile that looks the best for our RGB files is BJ Color Printer Profile 2000, which I think was in the list from my ip6600D. Runner-up was Generic Monitor, which I believe came with Photoshop, but the red & orange are still a tad too dark. I absolutely love Canon products, and I'm hoping this printer will last ten years like my old one did. Canon may want to consider updating the drivers for when RGB graphics are printed, but that's not enough of an issue to lower my rating.

High quality results from this printer.
My wife and I bought this model because our son has one, he has one for his small business. As it turns out we were correct in buying it, we keep both running all the time. Also we bought extra ink cartridges thinking we would need them right away, but we are still printing from the ink cartridges that it came with. Nice job Canon. We get a lot of compliments on our printing. People will ask who does your printing? Again nice job Canon. Then you tell them it was done at home on a Canon printer, their next question is how much is the printer? So we are getting high quality results from this printer.

Perfect .... after a little effort
A great large format printer with a fairly small footprint. It does only one thing ... print. And it prints wonderfully. The photo prints are beautiful. Text prints, to me, are clear and precise. CD/DVD printing rivals store bought discs ... once you figure it out (more later). Separate ink cartridges allow you to change only the empty colors. So far it seems to be fairly frugal with ink and the ink cartridges are relatively large. (After market ink is available ... a complete set for the cost of one Canon cartridge. I've used this ink and have had no problems at all.) I would have given this printer 5 stars except for the lousy software (My Picture Garden) that comes with it. It's another bloat-ware piece of junk that tries to be all things to all people and (IMO) fails completely. It is also rather restrictive in what it allows you to do. It wants you to do what it's writers thought was good ... not what YOU think is good. Hey, being creative means working on YOUR vision, not with someone else's. It wouldn't let me print to a CD at all ... and CD/DVD printing was a primary reason for buying this printer. The "My Picture Garden" software (that comes with the printer) is the only program that features printing to CD/DVD and when I tried a CD print, all the "cd/dvd" options were grayed out. ??? I finally found Canon's OLD program for disc printing. It's called CD-Label Print (ver 4.2.1) and isn't offered directly by Canon anymore and is 3-4 years old. I was afraid it wouldn't recognize the newer printers or cd trays but it did. It works flawlessly. Google search for it. I recommend not even installing Canon's software (except for drivers, of course) and doing all of your work in a dedicated program (like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or GIMP or Word) and printing directly from the application. Print discs with CD-Label Print. Hardware = 5 stars Output = 5 stars Software = 0 stars
