A snap
As easy to install as it gets. There is a YouTube video online for this that walks your through it. 5-10 min. We have it on the deck and they provide the stainless steel parts for outdoor use if needed.

Decent gate to keep dogs in place
A little pricey for the quality, altho it does seem to do the job and is made of all metal so it can be used outside, so four stars just for price point. Not too hard to assemble and set up, nice and light weight, I did have path way posts that weren't exactly set parallel, so the gate did work well to be able to offset the closing and locking mechanism. I'm using it to keep two medium-large dogs on the porch. It seems to work well for that. The lock mechanism is a little wonky and cumbersome, but I have it so all I have to do it raise the gate a little and it sets right in the top and bottom holes and stays closed. I wouldn't use it to keep a curious toddler in one place, especially at the top of the stairs or near the opening to a pool because of that cumbersome lock mechanism, but that's my opinion. All in all, a decent gate that works sufficiently for what I had intended to use it for.

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/08/2016Easy to install - very sturdy gate.We had the gate installed on our new deck and it only took a few minutes. I was surprised that our little ones had no clue how to open it since they seem to be able to open any other style gate...well worth the money.Kathy

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/18/2016Outdoor gateThe gate came with hardware for inside install but they added outside hardware that wouldn't rust if you used it outside. I used mine outside to keep the dogs on the deck and to keep my grandchildren from going down the steps or falling down the steps. It was easy to install and looks great on my deck. Price is good. I was going to have the deck builder build me a gate but it would have been $200 and would have been heavier and wouldn't have had the safety piece on it which if the child opened the gate, it wouldn't swing but one way (this piece could be left off if you did want to swing the gate both directions. Since mine was at the top of the stairs, I didn't want it to swing towards the stairs. I chose the black because it went well with my wrought iron patio furniture.Charlotte

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/07/2016Outdoor gatesWe bought two of these gates for our deck. One gate is at the top of the outdoor steps, to keep the young children on the deck and the other gate at the top of the slide, so no one accidentally falls down the slide. Both are very sturdy, easy to install and looks great. We are very happy with this purchase.Cindy

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser08/22/2014Excellent QualityGreat quality for outdoor use (s.s. hardware, aluminum frame, durable paint). The only drawback is that the latch requires a bit of fumbling to undo...a bit difficult with one hand. Other than that the gate is great and does not look like a "baby" gate. I'm using mine with the large extension.turbulentsquirrel

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/17/2014Looks nice and easy to installI'm using this as a pet gate at the top of the stairs on my deck. The black finish looks quite nice with my black aluminum deck railing. I did not want to drill into my posts and did not care for the appearance of the Cardinal balluster mounting kits so I purchased some aluminum flat bar and stainless steel hardware and fabricated my own mounting kit. I'm very happy with the functionality and appearance of the gate.JM156

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/14/2014Worked well for my use outside. The product is well constructed, however not easy to put together, you almost have to assemble it before you mount it to figure it out. Also I didnt realize but there are 2 sets of parts, 1 for inside and stainless for outside, not sure why they just didn't send the stainless, which works inside or out. Also releasing the gate is not a snap. after saying all that the product is well built and works perfect for my use on my deck.Julyguy

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/05/2014Cardinal Gates Stairway Special Outdoor GateI bought this gate to use on my deck to keep the dogs on the deck at times. I mounted it to the face of the railing posts, so I had to drill the rivet that holds on the safety parts on the latch. You would not do this if this was for a child obviously. By mounting it to the face (front) of the posts, not in between, this allows the gate to open fully and rest flat against the deck railing. Lightweight but strong construction. I would recommend this gate.Bigfootdwr
