Easy setup, roomy, and weathered the storm.
Used mine at a festival in upstate NY. It was easy to setup, by far the easiest tent setup we've ever had!! It was darker, but not pitch black. Actually using all of the stakes and lines was key for air circulation, otherwise it gets stuffy quick. We had a night of severe thunderstorms, which the tent withstood fairly well. I left the tent briefly in the middle of the storms, and realized that the door was only velcrod as we'd forgot to zip it. We still had minimal leakage, however I would highly recommend zipping up all of the doors and windows to the top, this way the rain fly can do it's job. The tent was cool enough to relax in during 80 plus days, which was really nice. The dark room technology also adds a level of privacy at night, as people outside could barely see when our lights were on at night.

Manufacturing Defect
Two poles on the back do not extend or telescope. This probably explains how they were installed incorrectly D-Pole was flipped 180 degrees. This made the back of the tent not stand up straight. Design suggestion. Do not use the black elastic covers on the hinge points. It gets caught in the hinge during installation and makes it very challenging to fold the legs back over. It also makes it less clear how the mechanism is supposed to work.

Ive loved this for 3+ years now with my Family
Originally got this to help our growing family (needed room for our Rotweiler, German Shepherd, and two boys under 4). We have really got our moneys worth out of this.. Lots of stand up room (I'm 6'), space for our pack n play, cot, and queen size air mattress for my queen. The blackout has been nice for the babys' naps (with sound machine and Coleman hanging fan/light. All that being said, I am back on this sight to find a replacement for the rain tarp. It has worn after all the use (Coleman: if you could help direct me that would be awesome). Also, living in KS, we have been hit with some pretty viscous unexpected winds, and have needed to tie it down quickly. If you properly orient this tent with wind direction, and stake down hard, this tent is sturdy. (If you don't the poles and side may bonk ya). Fair disclosure I set up my tent and waterproof/ scotch guard my stuff at the beginning of each year; it has kept us dry in some good Kansas storms. I would recommend this to any family looking to camp.

Terrific in theory, failure in function
The darkroom technology does make the tent feel cooler and blocks the light. Unfortunately, the coating rubs off on hard surfaces including the hub for the tent poles. Keep anything hard away from the sides, as blowing wind will cause the material to rub up against it (maybe cover the tent pole hub with something). The instant set-up is fast and convenient, especially for a 10-person tent. However, the slightest breeze will cause the poles to fall, collapsing the tent. You must keep the rain fly on and the guy lines straight to maintain the integrity of the tent. This cannot double as a stand-alone screen room; it needs the rain fly.

    Favorite Tent
We really enjoy how this tent is dark inside. Early morning sunrise will not wake you up that is for sure. Is it cooler? We live in Arizona so I don't think any tent is going to feel cooler. It is nice that you can open all the windows and have almost a screened room and the sun doesn't shine through the dark sides. In Arizona that is a plus! The hinged door is nice because you don't have to zip and unzip every time you enter and exit. It has become our favorite tent. However, recently while camping there was a wind storm. We had the tent staked and all guylines and fly attachments in place. During the storm one roof pole shattered and one side pole bent. One of the lines on the corner of the tent came out of the seam and the shattered pole made a small rip in the rainfly. To put this in perspective these were severe winds! Later reports said up to 60 mile an hour gusts! So, overall I think we came out ok. Just sad that if we can't replace the poles we have lost our favorite tent.

    Not worth the money
Bought for a camping trip that unfortunately was canceled so the tent was never opened…fast forward to this weekend and we put up for the first time.. Very impressed with how fast and easy the tent went up…one of the legs was bent but the tent still went up. We did however notice a screw inside the tent once it was completely assembled..we put it aside.. later found it went to the assembly that is on the very top where all the poles go together so a couple of the black things were dangling … very disappointed that a tent we have never used that money wise was not cheap was broke when we first opened it… what we liked about the tent was the ease of assembly, the dark out feature and the door feature… for the price of this tent I feel I could have purchased a tent that wasn't made so cheap. Given the chance to do over I would not purchase this tent again. I would go with old school thread your poles. Buyer beware.

Incorrectly assembled poles render tent useless
One of the poles at the top was assembled backwards. It's a D shaped pole with a button that should click into place allowing the tent not to collapse. Upon setting up we noticed it wasn't sturdy. When trying to take the tent down the pole wouldn't even slide back down. We had to completely take the pole off just to fold the tent up. Tried calling Coleman for a replacement part and they're on back order because the tent is so commonly assembled incorrectly. I'm only giving two stars because the rest of the tent is really nice otherwise. However Coleman shouldn't sell this tent if it can't be made correctly.

    Awesome
Took my kids camping on the river monsoon season we had unexpected thunder lightning heavy rain wind gusts of 30-40 MI tent held up like a charm I bought this because I'm a single mother who's 5 ft and I like to go camping and I have two little kids that really don't help out just get in the way so this pop-up tent is extremely easy to set up and take down not too heavy I was able to load it on top of my car I love the blackout feature. I would suggest making a rain fly to go over it with clear panels so you can still see the sky/rain that would be nice.

    Darkroom tent
The tent arrived in good time. It was easy to put up with one person taking about ten minutes. But really, what tent comes with no pegs?? I cant believe it doesnt have pegs and basic tools included for that price. Will be using seam seal as light is visible around the zips etc.

    Not waterproof
I read a few reviews and was concerned with all the comments about leaks, but there were also good reviews that talked about not having any leaks. I really wanted this tent to work for me. The dark technology is a plus and it is fairly easy to set up. However, this tent is not an "instant tent". I believe they have changed the design as you now have to attach poles to the center and sides, instead of having poles that fold out from the center, like on the 6 and 4 person instant tents that Coleman has. There are four main issues with the design that lead to leaking: 1. The canopy is not taught and droops into the tent. This leads to water collecting and dripping heavily into the doors and windows 2. The seams are poorly sealed. There are seams at the base where you can see light coming through. This is disheartening as some seams have an extra layer of plastic protection around them, but the majority don't. If all the seams had this plastic, I think a lot of the leakage issues wouldn't happen. 3.The base seams are lower on this tent then other Coleman designs, which leads to water collecting around the whole base of this tent. 4. Poor door design. If it is raining and you need to go in or out of this tent, you are definitely bringing the rain in with you. (All the water in my tent was without going in or out during the rain) I set this tent up prior to a light rain coming through and it did not hold up. It rained a light drizzle for about 4 hours and I had puddles at both the front and back door. I also had water beading up on the walls and a thin layer of water around the edge. This tent was placed on a flat surface, with a tarp under it and nothing inside it and I still had these issues. I will be returning this tent right away. I'm just happy I tested it in the back yard first!
