Great bang for your buck. Can't go wrong with Dell
Picked up on sale. Got the I5 version as other reviewers have said. Box says I3, website says I3, Dells own website only sells up to I3 so I am stoked to have all this power in such a small form factor. About to throw a 2.5 SSD in for storage and another 4GB stick I have from upgrading my main laptop to make this a little monster. HD 720P screen ain't bad since 14 inch. Any larger and I would really want Full HD my only knock on this laptop is the screen. It's a dell so you could probably find a FHD panel to install but I'd rather have the extra battery life and save the money. You can buy 480GB - 500GB SSDs for around $40 now. A 4GB stick of Ram on EBay around $15. So I am going to be in this around $325 total with tax. Perfect little couch web surfer and video streamer. The 10th gen I5 thing is what sold me. If it was an I3 I might not keep it. If your in college or looking for a small form factor laptop with good battery life I'd give this a look.

Great affordable laptop for business use.
I bought this for my wife to replace her older laptop that stopped working. She needed something simple and portable that she could use for Zoom meeting and other type of business work. She has been really happy with it so far.

    The dell inspiron 3481
It is a solid 14 inch beauty. It has a good processor and RAM that makes activities snappy, a battery life that lasts over 6 hours if not much more on moderate use (watching movies, reading...). It also has really good speakers that are a great add-on. With all the great features its important to note that it does not have the touch screen feature and the quality of images on the screen is average due to its 1366x768 resolution and other specs. Overall, it is a good laptop for daily use.

    Going On A Year Soon
I bought this laptop last year in November 2019 and she's still going strong. It's super fast when booting up and a breeze running multiple apps at once. I haven't had an issue and hope none with arise. Oh and it came with th i5 processor instead of the advertised i3.

I retired from work about 4 years ago and have not much need for a laptop for my sole use. all this time I've living off my iPhone and just borrow my wife's Apple MacBook for relatively long emails, MS Word and the like. While on quarantine, I decided to write my memoirs, probably embellish it w/ some pictures and graphics. and thus I decided to buy my own laptop similar to what I was using at work. My son recommended this Dell laptop, and so far the unit suits perfectly my simple, basic computer needs.

Great Vaule, even better after some minor upgrades
Usually reviews are made when products don't meet expectations, consider this one the exception. This might a bit lengthy so the TLDR is: Its a great value so long as you're capable of getting out of Windows 10 S mode and are okay with a sub 1080p screen. The laptop itself is pretty light, feels sturdy enough for being plastic. Screen does have a moderate amount of flex. Hinges are very stiff it takes two hands to open the screen. Port selection is run of the mill (3 USB A's, HDMI, 3.5mm headphone, Kensington Lock). Where this laptop shines is in the spec list. My model came with the i5 1035g4. Which lands in the upper mid-range of Intel's 10th gen line up. The Iris Plus GPU on this model is a leap above last gen parts. Playing e-sports titles is easily in reach so long as you're willing to deal with the low res display. Expandibility is another win for this laptop. The internals are easily accessible and inside you'll find an extra DDR4 SO-DIMM slot and a 2.5 HDD slot as well (they even include drive cage and screws to go along with it). Adding another 4gb of RAM and second SSD for storage really make this laptop shine. Aside from Windows 10 being in S-Mode (which can be undone, google is your friend in this) and the low res display; There is little reason not to buy this laptop at the $249 price point.

    Outstanding value laptop!
If you are lucky enough to get one with an i5 CPU, this is outstanding value! I instantly upgraded to 16GB of RAM which has made a noticeable improvement to the responsiveness of the system. The laptop comes with 1x 4GB and a spare slot which can accommodate a maximum of 16GB per slot for a maximum of 32GB RAM. Inside the laptop is a spare bay which can accommodate a secondary 2.5" Hard Disk or SSD and wiring is present, just plug in and go! With 16GB of RAM, this laptop is powerful enough to even run GTA V on High settings at the native display resolution of 1366x768. Battery life while doing basic tasks such as web browsing or viewing YouTube is around 5 hours. The packaging is labelled as an i3 CPU and advertised in Walmart as an i3, however, like others, mine also has a 10th gen Core i5 CPU installed. Not sure if this is a mistake made at the factory? Windows 10 S can be changed to Windows 10 Home with a single click of a button. Build quality seems top notch, and I can't see any reasons why it will not last for years. The display is a Matte panel rather than a glossy, personally I prefer this, however, if you are one for highly vibrant colours and glossy displays, this is not for you I simply cannot recommend this laptop enough, and if you are lucky enough to get one with the i5 CPU, then you have easily just got yourself a laptop worth $450-$550 for $249... What an absolute steal!
