Excellent Gate!!!
With 2 young children and 4 dogs, a gate is a must for the safety of all. The Evenflo Multi-Use Décor Tall Walk-Thru Gate is an amazing product. It looks stylish in my house and keeps everyone out of my office. I love that it is tall enough so that my older daughter cannot open it. In order to open this gate, you have to slide the button and then lift up and push the gate. This is a great feature if you have kids (or dogs) that have previously learned to open gates by just pushing or pulling them hard enough. So far my kids (and incredibly smart huskies) have not figured out how to open it.
Another awesome feature of this gate is the small latch on the bottom to the gate which restricts which way the gate can be opened. I imagine this would be particularly helpful if the gate was at the top of the stairs and you only want it to open one way. I found it helpful as a second precaution to keep my children and animals from trying to push it open. They can't push it if it only opens one way.
As for ease of use, this gate is a breeze to use. It comes with two extender panels to fit a space up to 48” and also comes with the pressure mounts and brackets (for staircase use). It took me about 5 minutes to take it out the box and set it up. The gate's open and close mechanism is intuitive for adults and works perfectly. This is the best gate I have ever used and would recommend to all friends and family with children or pets. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

A few months ago I had to replace the bottom of the stairs set because the gate broke off at the plastic hinge. Just tonight the top stairs one broke at the same exact place. I bought to keep my family safe, but instead it has left us in a dangerous situation. Now, I will be looking for a better kind of replacement.AprilM

Ordered the wall nanny thinking that would solve the problem and it still would not close/lock. Really nice gate, just wish it would have worked for us!Ally

2.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser07/27/2020A DisappointmentThis gate was a disappointment. I did TONS of searching for just the right gate and thought this was THE one. I was very wrong. One issue is that it presents online as being a tension gate but it requires you to screw a cap into the wall for a snug fit and doesn't tension in like expected, it screws not pulls/pops into place. That was unexpected, as we'd hoped to avoid damage to our newly built home. Next, the gate is listed as spanning a wide range that easily fit the bill for our doorway at the top of the steps in terms of the minimum and maximum. What they don't say is that there are two extension pieces, one fits up to a certain width where the next one starts. Our doorway, due to moulding around the baseboards, is one width up top and a different one in the bottom, a 3-4 inch difference. The top was too wide for the short extension piece and the bottom was too narrow for the long extension piece because the widths fell near the max/min of the two different pieces. We ended up cutting chunks of wood to put between the rods and the wall to fill the gaps and make this work. During this we got 3 of the 4 rods lined up and discovered the final issue. The reason the 4th one wouldn't line up was because the gate was bent. By this point we'd invested so much and NEEDED a gate like a week or two ago, so we weren't going to try to send it back. We're stuck with a gate that's finagled to work (fingers crossed!) with our new little explorer. What a frustrating process! The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is because it looks nice and goes with our decor overall (if you can look past all the chunks of wood and whatnot). .Liddy

Replacement gate does not close automatically and needs to be pulled closed every time. I would chose something else as this has been very problematic.erin44

It was easy to put together, you can screw it in the door frame or just use the tension feature. We love that it has a “door stop” on the bottom. That way if you are going in and out through the gate you do not have to keep releasing the latch. Also it looks great versus the typical wood and plastic gate. Overall we have been very happy!
