Pretty Application; Disastrous Allergic Results
I was looking for some Halloween special-effects makeup (gold glitter/gold foil) and couldn't find anything from a higher-end brand like Sephora or MAC etc. But I came across this set and it looked perfect. I've always been wary of inexpensive/no-name brand Halloween makeup, but I figured I'd give it a try. I used the gold foil, gold glitter and rhinestones with the provided glue adhesive on my cheekbones and collar bone area. I have to admit, I thought the application was easy and looked great. However, my face started to feel weird after wearing it for a few hours (tight, dry and uncomfortable). When I removed my makeup at night, my skin was red, inflamed and puffy. When I woke up the next morning, I was horrified when I looked in the mirror. My eye area had ballooned up so much that it was affecting my vision and my face was red & itchy. Even after two days and lots of Benadryl and Advil, my face, neck and chest are still swollen, itchy, irritated and filled with tiny white & red bumps on my skin. I've never experienced any type of allergic reaction to anything before, and I work in the cosmetics field so I'm constantly testing out new formulas and have never had an issue. This was the only new product that I used that night. This leads me to believe that there are some form of harsh/harmful ingredients in this product (either in the adhesive glue or the actual glitter/foil) and I question the formulation and safety. So in short, the product looked fabulous on, but wasn't worth the disastrous skin reaction. Just a fair warning to others....photos attached for proof!
