Waste of money
This laptop dies so fast and the charger is made very cheaply. Once the charger breaks there is literally no place to get a new one. The warranty didn't even help me with the charger issue. Waste of money.. DO NOT RECOMMEND

    Gateway 156 FHD Ultra Slim Notebook
    Hi All: I bought the gateway computer on Nov 13 and today Oct 10th it is no longer working, it is not opening any more and also the charger has break like a month ago. Same as another user it happened that the touchpad stopped working so I had to start using mouse . Bottom line the computer has not yet reach the year that I bought it and it is not working any more. Worst scenario for me is that I do not live in the USA. Is there a solution you can provide me? Thanks Fernanda

    Good laptop for price!
    3 stars because it's "average", middle of the road, not outstanding, and really is what you would expect for the $400 price range. SSD instead of hard drive, is fast, quiet, and runs cool. Odd that the SSD is only 256Gb instead of half terabyte, which is fine with me since I run a multi-Tb SSD USB external drive for mass storage and backup. But RAM is impressive 16Gigs! Fast boot-up! About 12-15 seconds from dead cold to Login screen, even faster from "sleep/hibernate". Middling 10th generation i5 CPU is adequate for home computer at this price level. It lists "1 USB-3.0 port and 1 USB-2.0" which are type A connector, but actually both are USB-3.0. It also has 1 USB-C. Has MicroSD (TIFF) card slot. Built-in Mics, headphone jack, found and paired my wireless Bluetooth headphones lickety-split, built-in speakers are nothing special but fine for social media video/music playback. Note - no cd/dvd/bluray - you'll need external drive. My selling points were: SSD drive, lots of RAM, fast boot, moderately lightweight, good battery power. Lastly it does include FREE upgrade from MicroSoft to Windows11 operating system like most new computers being sold this year.

    A Great computer at a Great price
    I never thought about "GATEWAY" as a computer company, thought the when out of business years ago. I looked up EVERYTHING on what is on the market. All of the experts said it was a bad buy at $700, and I agree. However just like the experts at $400 it is a STEAL! I am used to a 17 inch laptop but easy to get used to this 15 inch. This is a GREAT computer at a GREAT price! Best to work on it while plugged in so you can change the settings to get the most out of the processor. Only one negative but it is correctable, purchase a cooling tray. This computer will get HOT. A cooling tray keeps it working perfectly. I already bought the wife and father in-law the same computer for Christmas.

    Super price point for an excellent laptop, Love it
    I liked everything about this laptop as it had just what I needed. Super price point for what is in it. I don't need touch screen because I hook this lap top up to a 27" monitor. It is fast and easy to use. It sets itself it up once I put in my Microsoft credentials. The Gateway name meant a lot to me too. Top quality! I showed it to my friend and she got one and loves it. Thank you Walmart.

    Don't Buy It!
    This has been the worse experience I've ever had with a laptop. Upon opening, the sound was so weak, I ended up having the hassle and expense of shipping it back to them for repair. When it returned after about 6 weeks, the sound was now adjustable, but it is still not quality sound. I had also made note when shipped back that the fan went off and on continuously. Nothing was done about that. It continues to this day. At least the lesson I learned was NOT to buy electronics online, just buy whatever is in stock in person at the store so return is easy. And stay away from Gateway!

    Poorly Made And Not Made By Gateway!
    First things first - this is not the Gateway that you used to know from back in the day. These laptops are made by a company named EVOO and they are meant for budget minded folks. However, you get what you pay for and this laptop is no exception to that rule. The one that I received was missing a screw on the bottom to the door for the add on SSD. The keyboard is poorly made and the keys hard to see and felt mushy. When I checked online for driver updates on the Gateway web site there were no options for updates or support. Basically there is no technical support for this machine. If you buy this laptop you are on your own! Needless to say I returned the unit and a lesson was learned. Good luck to you.

    The best thing that never happened
    This laptop deserves 5 stars but the speakers brought it down low. No complaints about the speed No complaints about the camera/ picture. Apps runs very well. Speed is out of this world. But I cannot keep a laptop where people barely hear me. I thought I found the perfect one.

    Do not buy. When it does not work in a few months and if you have to contact about warranty issue they are no where to be found. I should have stuck with Dell. STAY AWAY-YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY.

    TouchPad useless after Windows Update
    Ok, from the beginning everything looks fine, ultra thin laptop very nice. Not a big fan of the touchpad that you can click anywhere but works for some months. After a regular update of windows the touchpad became unresponsive. I tried in different ways to update the driver, uninstall, read forums, everything but nothing works. So now I have to carry a mouse with me because the touchpad doesn't works at all. The funny part, I tried to contact Gateway and nobody replies to me. Called the number on the webpage and ACER support pick up and they provided to me a dead phone number for Gateway support. I'll try to return this brick to buy the regular brands with full support. Now I'm filling like I went to buy my laptop in the black market (No support at all)
