final instructions
The only problem I had and did not appreciate was was having an update required just before I sent my efile to the IRS. Then I had a problem with it repeating over and over. Had to download from site. Also remind people after download to save tax form here and to reboot computer after download

Good for Fed, not for State
I was very disappointed that HR Block software did not have the California State version ready to go. I noticed the update dates listed for the State version kept getting passing the expected dates for 3 or 4 weeks until I finally just purchased TurboTax so I could file my State taxes. So for tax year 2021 I ended up having to pay for two separate software packages to complete my taxed. I cannot recommend HR Block to anyone that wishes to file State taxes in combination with their Federal returns unless they don't mind waiting for the updates which may be weeks after other software companies are ready to go.

The state software leaves a lot of money on the table for example health care worker tax credits in rural areas and capital gains tax reduction for selling farm land. These can be enormous yet nothing in the state software addresses them which makes me doubt the whole software package.Dede246

They're too lazy to copy the depreciation basis of each item from the prior year. When you have multiple properties with multiple items to depreciate it is a challenge and annoying to have to manually look up the depreciation basis from last year's return.Firemark1817

Had little trouble filling out my return and my returns are not simple. The major reason for 4 stars and not 5 was that I have Windows and the H&R Block website kept downloading the MAC version so it didn't work right. I had to get online help from Block to get the correct version downloaded and that took some effort.Unknown

I had to print it out and mail it. I could have downloaded the forms free from the IRS website and done that without using this software.Nurse Cyndi

This happen even though the software was updated before transmitting the returns to the IRS. My refund went from $2300 to $300. Very disappointed!!!GaryW in Idaho
