HRB- the way to go!
We are a family of about 48. 11 of us are accountants. We take care of filing our own taxes and HRBlock software is the way to go!

As with 2020 disappointed and frustrated.
I have used this product for years, as a matter of fact there is currently on my system versions for tax years 2016 through 2019; but not 2020. I attempted to install it on the same system it has worked on for years, a Dell laptop running Win 10 pro with 4 gigs of memory and 638 gigs of free HD space. Well I tried for hours, I disabled everything I could think of firewall, anti-virus even UAC. Next I tried the more complex methods, I booted into safe mode with network enabled and a few other tricks, I could not get it to install and it does not return any kind of error code. So I called tech support, I was transferred 3 times and on hold 238 minutes, I spent another hour with a friendly lady whom made several suggestions all of which I had already tried but I went through the motions. She was nice, and patient but clearly over her head because she kept putting me on hold and asking for help. She finally gave up and said she was raising my case to tier 3 and I should expect a call within 48 hours. I never did. I spent more time and effort in attempting to install the software than I would have doing my taxes, NOT HAPPY!!!

    No longer user friendly
    In cases of fraud where a person has had their return hacked, the IRS has assigned PIN's. I was unable to locate the place where to record this in your software. It required multiple calls until one associate took the time to research the issue and point me to the proper place. In 2019 I completed a return and paid the required tax. I was pleasantly surprised when receiving a refund of over 50% of my payment. Having taught income taxation for many years, I am familiar with its workings. However I thought it prudent not to call the IRS to learn how this occurred. I e-filed in May expecting a $501 refund. Two months have past without received it. I re-checked the program only to discover it was rejected and listing 3 potential reasons. I printed and mailed the return. I have used the H&R software for MANY years. The ease of usage and support have greatly diminished.

    Bring cd back
    The fact that you cannot get the cd to download the software is bad. I purchSed the Deuxe edition and could not get it to download was very upsetting. I wasted my money and then paid on your website. I will not do that again. I Loved it until you took away the cd.

    Flexible filing of your taxes!
    Very precise and self-explanatory software! The interview process is easy to understand and, if you get stuck, the help available is there to rescue you. If you forget something in the process it's easy to go back, fill in whatever you forgot, and then resume from where you had previously left off! Finally after it reviews your return for errors it will give you options for filing! E-filing is a breeze!

    Software Great - Availability Not So Much!
    The only problem I had with the software this year (which I have been using for over ten years) was the lack of CDs. I had to pay extra to have one mailed to me which came after my taxes were already submitted. We don't all care to download our programs.

    Good programs -- sneaky pricing
    Program works fine. Transfers from previous returns correctly. Simple to use. Only problem is the state e-file fee they slap on at the end is excessive and you are not informed of the amount until you have entered all the info. If you decide you want to avoid it and paper file your state return, you must go back a half dozen screens and then re-enter. I think they call this "bait and switch" in retailing.

    Finding the current file for correction & Billing
    The issues I found when using the software. 1: Until I fully learn the program, I still struggled finding the current tax year file documents so I could make corrections in the data I entered so I could email to the IRS. 2: I had to fill out my personal information for Billing, re-entering Credit Card at 3 different times. I found it a bit aggravating since it made it look like I was being charged each time. I'll have to check my statement when it arrives to make sure I was only charged the one time...

    HISTORICALLY ACCURATE SOFTWARE
    I have been using this software since it was originally "Parson's" and have NEVER had a failure in tax prep or filing. If there is any "ding" it is that the help is not written for morons like me, and often dances around questions that an "EXPERT" would never ask. Then again, would "EXPERTS" need tax prep software anyway?

    Incompatible with Vista
    I'm generally very satisfied with the product. However, after I downloaded the file, I was unable to install the software on my computer. I checked the box and saw that the software was not compatible with Windows OS's before Windows 8.1, whereas I have Vista. I had to use someone else's computer (a Mac, which I'm not totally comfortable with) to do my taxes. Would it be that hard to maintain compatibility with older versions of Windows? I know software and computer manufacturers are constantly obsoleting systems in order to sell newer product, but it gets tiresome after a while.
