Comprehensive yet easy to use
Have used this software over a number of years and each year it gets better. Have worked with other software of this type but this package is my favorite.

Software good, but IRS does not want me to e-file.
It was relatively straight forward to use. My only issue is that the IRS would not accept the e-file, because the AGI from the previous year did not match. I called the hotline and the IRS verified that I had correct figure, but my return was still being rejected. This is the second year in a row that I have not been able to e- file and submitted a paper return.

    Software over tax "professionals"
    I would recommend HR Block software. But don't let them do your taxes for you unless you pay extra for them to promise to di them right. Otherwise they make stupid mistakes that the software would never let you make!

    My longtime tax preparation favorite.
    Consistently easy to use and accurate. I only use the versions that are installed on my computer. Very versatile. The price is actually less than years ago.

    Good overall
    Overall, the software is easy to use and does some of the heavy lifting for me, which I appreciate. It didn't produce an accurate QBI number, so I had to do it manually, and the IRS disagreed with how I calculated it (no penalties, thankfully). The chat support was also helpful when the IRS rejected my e-file, even though the AGI number they wanted from the previous year (to confirm my identity) was correct. The chat can be improved, though. It wasn't clear whether someone was coming for several minutes, so I almost closed the window, thinking it wasn't working.

    Great tool
    Takes you step by step and helps you know how much you owe as you add w2s and other income, and then how much your deductions help you. If you don't know, you just go through anyway and the questions will help it figure out if you need to turn in anything for that topic. Still could use help understanding the whole investment part, though…

    Ease of use
    I have been using HR Block software since 2002 and have never had a problem with it. I do wish you would resume sending a disc with the program on it. I had to call your service representative to load your program using a the web site. The rep was very courteous and patient with me. I had been trying for 2 days to find the web site and he guided through the process and stayed the line until he was sure that I had successfully loaded the program and it was working properly.

    So Far So Good
    I've used this product for many years, and I haven't been audited. Yet. It's fairly easy to use, and I got a special price this year. It's typically cheaper than Turbo Tax anyway. There are still a few bugs. When I download tax data directly from Fidelity, it asks me to verify hundreds of fund names/# shares on trades manually, which is annoying. One would think the file formats, etc., from brokerages would have been figured out after all these years. These verifications are done during the Accuracy Review. They say you can "clear" the warnings and errors, but in my case that was not possible. I clicked through and accepted all the warnings, but they weren't cleared. Every time an accuracy review was done, the same warnings remained and couldn't be overridden. This is a poor user experience. You should be able to validate that the trades are acceptable one time and then move on. Also, the Accuracy Review window remains open after you finish, and you somewhat lose your place in the main flow at that point.

    Best Way To Do The Dreaded Taxes
    Taxes are not fun, but H&R Block makes the task easier and simpler to understand with clear instruction. It also gives reminders for something that might otherwise be overlooked. I have used this software for many years and would highly recommend it..

    Best tax software on the market!
    We've used H&R Block software for decades. The software guides you through everything very carefully, and we especially appreciate the 1099 import feature where you can import all your capital gains/losses automatically. Wonder feature and make everything very easy.
