Great entry level Hammer Drill
For the “Walmart” brand of tools, this Hammer Drill is a great value for the price conscious consumer. If you are a weekend DYI'er this is a must have. Cordless would be better, but sometimes it is better to be corded since batteries sitting on a charger go bad overtime. If you only need to use this tool 3-4 times a year, you won't break the bank investing in it. I like the extra handle for support and precision in drilling. Also the depth gauge is handy.

Just an okay product!
You get what you pay for. I though this would be great to drill into concrete. I wanted to install two flagpole brackets. I only had six holes to drill. The drill worked but it struggled with chuck slipping! Only 1/4 tapcon holes and if it struggles with these holes it will never handle the larger holes I need to drill.

    Good for residential use
My husband took his new Hammer Drill to work and let his co-workers borrow it. They stated that this tool would be a great tool for residential use around interior or exterior concrete surfaces. It has a peppy engine but wouldn't last long for commercial purposes.

    Impressed
I've only had a chance to use this hammer drill once. And as with the drill by the same brand, I was not expecting much from it. And since I don't have plans to use this tool much, I figured I'd give it a shot. Worked very to drill holes into a cinder block wall. It has a lock-on button that helps with long drilling. It also has the removal handle. It comes with a measuring depth rod for drilling to desired depths. Good affordable hammer drill. Would definitely recommend it for moderate type of use.

It looks exactly like a Black + Decker hammer dril
The Hyper Tough 6-AMP hammer drill is a corded drill. It is heavier than a regular cordless drill. It can be operated by one hand or both. The detachable auxiliary handle can be attached to or removed from the drill easily without tools. It seems logical to use the auxiliary handle when doing a tough job like drilling on masonry or metal. When the depth gauge rod is used, the auxiliary handle is also needed. Drill bits are not included. The 1/2 –inch keyless chuck works much better than those that require a key. There is a switch to select traditional drill and hammer drill. Hammer drill is good for working with brick or concrete. The variable-speed trigger provides precision speed control. There is also a switch to change the direction of the drill from clockwise to counter-clockwise. In most family, the drill is not used often. A corded drill can be used anytime, without waiting for it to charge up first. Also you do not have to worry about losing the charger. All you need is an extension cord. I suppose the choice is a personal one. This drill is a heavy duty drill, and works as a drill should. I would recommend it to friends who work with all types of materials including masonry and metal. For other small jobs, a lighter drill would be a better choice.

    Average home duty drill
The HYPER TOUGH 6 amp, ½” hammer drill is a low cost moderate use around the home drill. That is to say it is not a contractor grade hammer drill. It will drill holes in plastic, wood, metal and masonry. Under its list of uses concrete is not mentioned. So in my opinion if you want to drill holes in a 20 year old concrete slab it might not perform well. All parts of this drill are made of plastic except for the interior of the keyless chuck where the drill bit goes. The depth rod is also plastic and pretty flimsy. It has measurement lines marked but they are only in meters. The highlighted features of this drill are: a keyless chuck, a variable speed trigger, a continuous “on” lock button, a traditional drill/hammer drill switch and a detachable auxiliary handle with a depth gauge rod. I did not currently have a project to use this drill for so, I drilled three 5/8” diameter holes through an old paver brick that had 1” of old mortar on it. The drill performed well putting the drill bit through the mortar and brick without cracking the brick paver. The hammer drill has a 2 year warranty that is not available to contractors or rental businesses.

Outstanding full featured Hammer Drill !
The Hyper Tough DL1137 6.0-Amp 1/2-Inch Corded Hammer Drill is a great tool to use. This is a very versatile drill with many features which I love. It has a variable-speed trigger switch, simply apply pressure on the trigger to adjust speed or you can control the speed with the speed-dial built into the trigger switch. It also has a lock-on button to ease stress on your finger for continuous drilling. It has a push switch for bi-directional going forward or reverse rotation. This drill also sports a depth gauge rod to control the depth of drilled holes. Now for one of my favorite features of this drill is the hammer drill switch which allows you to select as a normal drill for wood, metal or other non concrete materials or select the hammer drill mode for drilling holes in brick,, masonry or concrete. This drill is well made which also comes with an auxiliary handle to give support for 2 handed drilling when required. The chuck is tighten and loosen by hand and is simple to install or remove bits.

    Good Heavy Duty Drill!
The first thing I would like to say is how surprised I was at how heavy this drill is. The drill it is replacing is a older different brand that weighs about half as much as this drill. I believe my old drill was a 3/8 inch is why. This drill is very sturdy feeling in your hand and with the addition of the auxiliary handle it makes for easy use. The other really nice feature of this Hyper Tough drill is that it has a "Variable-Speed Dial" that allows you to increase or decrease the speed of the drill itself. This drill tops out at a no-load speed of 2800 RPM, now that's serious stuff. It also of course has forward and reverse setting which is controlled by a simple button. It features a "Lock-On" button for continuous drilling if you need which can come in handy at times. I really like the Keyless Chuck which makes it quick and easy to change bits. Another great feature is that it can accept up to a 1/2 inch bit shank! Now that's some serious drilling lol. Now if your wondering what the "Hammer" part of it is, this is for jobs such as drilling into concrete, brick, etc. which my old drill would have never been able to handle. Switching from drill to hammer setting is as easy as sliding a switch. It also comes with a Depth-Gauge rod to help you measure how deep you have drilled so you don't over drill your hole. This depth-gauge fits onto the auxiliary handle and is a great addition. The cord on this drill is 6 feet which is a decent length. There is also a complete detailed instruction booklet included so you shouldn't have any problems using it. All in all I would recommend this drill to a "do-it-yourself" type person (like myself) but is more of a professional type drill, this thing is built "Hyper Tough"! *also has a 2 year warranty!

    Hyper Tough DL1137
This is a 6 amp corded hammer drill from Wal-Mart and made in China. It's a hefty 4 pounds with a 1/2" keyless chuck and a 6' cord. It has a trigger lock button and a variable speed adjustment. The direction button is just above the trigger and the switch from drill to hammer drill is on top just behind the chuck. Included is an auxilliary handle and metric depth gauge. Speeds are variable from 0 to 2800 rpm. It has fair power for wood and mild steel but seems limited for drilling masonry. This is an economical drill for the hobbyist.

    Good Drill for the Price
First of all you have to consider that this drill sells for around thirty dollars, so if you are expecting it to perform for eight hours a day drilling holes in reinforced concrete you will be disappointed. That being said, the Hyper Tough DL1137 works surprisingly well for small projects. I recently purchased a prefabricated pergola that I needed to anchor to a back patio slab. Living in Florida we are subject to some powerful winds and the occasional hurricane and since I did not want my new pergola departing for parts unknown in the next storm I need to anchor it down. I wasn't expecting much from the DL1137 to be honest, I purchased some new concrete drill bits, and I figured if it made it through drilling sixteen holes for the anchors before dying I would call it good. Much to my surprise, the DL1137 drilled into the slab quite well, the detachable handle was a great help in the process. The drill completed the job without issues and still is working just fine. For an inexpensive work around the house drill, you can't go wrong. The Hyper Tough DL1137 6.0-Amp 1/2-Inch Corded Hammer Drill is well worth the price and then some!
