Toaster to be happy with.
This is all you need, wide enough for bagels, heat setting that works and you don't have to toast twice. Power cord is just fine and long enough. did not even coiled it all out. If you limit yourself to features that you really need, there is less chance of something going wrong / not working one day anymore. I would recommend this toaster ! (and you get a chance to not buy everything at the one Retailer AMAZON. Their might may be becoming scary one day, ... if it is not already)

Unused settings!
I was very disappointed with my purchace. I love the kitchenaid brand and although I read the reviews, I did not pay attention and bought this toaster. In setting 1, some breads are dark and others are not toasted at all. Toast is different on both sides. at the second time it burns the next bread. In the settings 2 more breads burn. I thought it was because of the type of bread, but when I bought other brand of bread, it still burnt.

    The distance between the elements and the surface of the bread is so great that you need your morning wake up call to come an extra 10 minutes early so you'll have toast for breakfast and not warmed bread. This is in part because there needs to be enough room for a bagel, but the distance seems excessive and results in some vert slow toasting.

    No frozen setting.
    Nice and heavy. Hasn't burnt my toast but am considering returning as it does not toast evenly on both sides, acting as though it ONLY works on bagel.

    I do not like this toaster very much, I guess I am used to the older ones, today they all seem kind of rickety. It is also slow to toast unless you turn it on high and then you have to watch it to keep it from burning.

    Very good toaster
    We are very pleased with this toaster, basic but that is what we wanted. Kitchen Aid appliances has been in our kitchen for years and has been a good product.

    Its a nice looking toaster and toasts quickly. The down side is things get too brown. The only setting I can use and not burn things is the lowest one.

    I absolutely, positively love the look of this toaster. That being said, I have to hit on the low points. First, the cord. While I know doesn't need to be too long, is less than 18 inches long. It also comes out the end where the adjustment knob and lever is. This makes it difficult to access these when the unit is plugged in without bumping into the cord. Second, adjusting the knob to anything over 1 is going to result in the items being burnt. My prior toaster, would allow for a very light toasting on 1 with 3 being the optimal selection for perfectly toasted bread. For that reason, my first test slices I set the unit on 3. It came out burnt. I still think I will be able to use this toaster which makes me happy because again I love the retro look that goes with the rest of my kitchen decor. One bit of advice. Upon using the toaster for the first couple of times, you were going to want to have a window open close by. As with most new appliances such as this, the first few times will produce a strong “melting plastic” type odor. It does go away after the first few uses.
