Futon Bunk
I purchased this bunk for my teenage son whose room is very small (roughly 10'x11'). Because of the small space, it was limited what we could do with his room. This bed is perfect, it fits great and he is able to entertain 3 friends while playing video games. It took about 2.5-3 hours to get the bed fully assembled. One thing I didn't like was that the ladder rails did not line up with the holes which left the ladder insecure. That was an easy fix by purchasing a drill bit and creating a hole so the ladder could be screwed into place. I went with the 8" futon mattress rather than the 6" because teenagers will use this and not small children who don't weigh much. I must warn you that with the 8" futon mattress you will not be able to lift the futon into upright position without having to remove the mattress because of the thickness. Over a few weeks the mattress will bend and flatten and you won't have to deal with taking it off and on. All in all...a great buy.

Disappointed on the condition of which it arrived
I bought this bunk bed for my teenage daughters. It just arrived today. I'm not sure if I'm going to bother putting it together or returning it for a refund. The bunk bed arrived it a mangled box, that was open on 3 of the 4 sides, with possible damage and possible missing pieces. Im so upset I didn't fully evaluate the situation as far as damage or missing parts goes. I was so excited for this purchase and couldn't wait for it to arrive so I can put it together but now I'm extremely disappointed! Customer service didn't seem to care to much about the condition my purchase arrived in. I'm only giving a 1 star rating so that I can give a review other wise I wouldn't even give it 1 star. The pictures don't even show the entire damage to the box and they way this shipment arrived. This is so disappointing.

    so far, happy with purchase
    so far, it looks great. took about 3 hours for me to assemble it. be very careful not to over tighten any bolts because they strip easily. no one has slept on it yet but it seems pretty sturdy. don't know yet whether or not the metal will squeek but I'll update my review. Unfortunately, it is not easy to buy the proper futon mattress for the lower sofa that folds down into a full size bed. either not available or, the reviews are so terrible, I'd be a fool to buy one. I purchased the zinus spa serenity 8" memory foam mattress and it is impossible to convert lower bunk back to a sofa with this thick mattress. probably need a 5" mattress to have that option. I might cut the mattress where the sofa frame folds in order to use sofa. By the way, when lower bunk sofa is in bed position, the bunk bed frame, 2" square metal verticle bars need to be about 4 inches out from wall. I was hoping it could go right up next to wall to save space. the square metal tubing is definitely nicer looking than the round. that and fast, free shipping were 2 more reasons I bought it. the ladder is not so hard on my feet, but could be better with a wider, flatter perch. the other unfortunate is that the metal safety guard rails are so high and needs to be climbed over.

    My 5 year old loves his new bunk bed It is a bit tall so if you don't have high ceilings in your home that may be something to take into consideration I have high ceilings in my house and my son can get on his knees on the top bunk and almost touch his ceiling and which when he grows just a little more he probably will be able to but overall it looks nice in his room I was satisfied for the money and one other thing be prepared for atleast 4 hrs to put together

    Great bed
    I got this for my 13 year old daughter who is out growing the room she had as a child. The bed came in two boxes and had everything I needed to put it together. No damage. It took about three hours to unpack and set up, but pay attention when you put it together that the holes for the ladder line up with the other side. You need to go more on the picture than the instructions. But my daughter loves it.

    Nice sturdy frame.
    Nice looking sturdy bed/futon frame. The instructions though are half written. They do not mention which way to put the parts on so you end up having to do the steps twice. It helps to go on the internet and see the same instructions but you can enlarge it and see the details better.

    I carefully read every review I could find before I purchased this bed. It was for my 16 yr and 15 yr. Often they have other friends over who are 18. All the boys are football players and wrestlers, so stability and strength were of the utmost importance to us. The directions seemed easy to follow, but some of the details where hard to follow (keep in mind I am a woman and not inclined to build things as a normal rule). I had to put the ends together probably 3 times before I got everything in the correct direction. I was in no hurry putting it together. I worked in my living room putting together the end pieces, taking parts out of the boxes as I needed them. The parts were well marked with the exception of the rungs for 1 ladder which was miss marked. It took about 4 hours to completely assemble the ends. The next day I moved them to the bedroom and completed the bed in about 90 minutes. The package was short a nut and 3 washers, but they could have been lost in my house (the package was not sealed well) They were easily replaced. The boxes come with a million parts but the screws go in easily (most only required minor tightening with the allen wrench) and every part works together to strengthen the others - the overall design is very stable and sturdy - perfect for the older kid.

    This bed really worked out for my family. We had a wood frame full size bed that took up most of the space in my sons room. This design made it work out for the space. It is a full size bed at the bottom that can become a sofa and a twin size on top. Putting it together was fairly easy although I wish they would have label certain pieces better. Most pieces are self-explanatory. I would advise you to get the best mattress for the bottom. My son loves it and it's good for company.

    We love that the kids love it!
    Bed was purchased just after Thnksgvng '09. We were worried delivery time would be longer since Xmas shopping was underway, but bed arrived on time. Free site2store shipping allowed us to save over $100. Bed was purchased for 6yr old boy and 9yr old girl to share. They enjoy going to bed and having their own space. Seeing the manual and all the parts out of the box was very intimidating for my husband and me but it only took us about 2.5 hours to assemble. Hardest part was one of the last instructions (snapping on thingys that ensure top mattress bars don't pop out). The bed does squeak some when changing from sofa to sleeper position. Overall, bunk bed seems like it will last us a good few years. The bed has a sleek and modern look and can be suitable for a range of ages.
