Good, Quality, and Valuable Product!
This Radio/Alarm does everything it says and the Weather Alerts are a very handy thing to have, especially with the extreme's we get here in the Midwest. The alert has already worked and I needed it for my job, so it was well worth the price. The radio is crisp and clear and it's nice to have push buttons for easy access.

    Not receiving warnings/alerts? Move radio first.
    Review concerns poor reception/non-reception of warnings/alerts. I have owned a Midland WR-300 (WR300) for more than 16 years. I had difficulty programming it (county warnings); but took the radio to my local NWS Weather Forecast Office, who kindly programmed it for me. Later, I adjusted it so only counties immediately surrounding OK County warned me. Kudos to the Forecast Office for their help! Regarding warnings and alerts, it is IMPORTANT that you DO NOT PLACE YOUR WR300 WITHIN 0-4 FEET of other Radio Frequency-emitting devices (e.g., cordless phones or other electronics). If you aren't getting warned/alerted, MOVE your WR300 FARTHER AWAY from other electronic devices. (Per the instruction manual, FCC Compliance, "This device must accept any interference received including interference that may cause undesired operation.") Moving your radio may help, as it worked for me, so try moving it away from other electronics before returning it. I hope this helps you.

    Midland Weather Radio WR300 is one of the best!
    I have owned this radio for years, and I discovered a few days ago that one of the AA batteries that is for backup leaked and fused itself into the compartment. My radio was ruined. So I ordered another one. It has served me so well. This radio is programmable to the counties around you, so that you have only the weather alerts close to you. You get warnings, watches, and announcements. There are well over 100 different alerts that this radio gives. It does have an alarm clock on it, radio or alert, and so you can use it to double as a bedside clock. You are able to hook an external antenna to it. You are also able to attach an external speaker, and also an external strobe alert. This is one of the best weather radios out there. I truly appreciate this weather radio. No one should be without one, and this one is one of the best. I wouldn't say that if I didn't trust it to protect my household. Walmart got the order out quickly and it arrived safe. I rate this item 5*s out of 5. Get it now! You should never be caught blind of trouble weather, or other critical alerts.

    Maybe NOT for seniors
    I'm sure this is great, however, I did have to return it because it was bought for an older fella and it was just too complicated for him. Some people aren't as good with digital and multi-function electronics.

    Easy Setup
    This is my second NWS radio elect radio. Left my last one to the folks that purchased our Florida house when we sold it. They like Me will use it for hurricane warnings and severe ocean conditions. Being a NWS weather spotter for the National Capital region in Virginia te Midland unit is very reliable, easy to set up and a pleasure to work with. I would recommend it for those where weather is a concern.

    Date/Time/Message display is difficult to see unless you pick up radio and hold at a specific angle. Annoying.

    Two Radios, take your pick on what you need
    The Midland WR300 is a great radio, for a good price as it contains features that most people would like or need. One of those is changing the siren volume, where you could have a high or low setting, unlike the WR120, where it's going to be loud. The second one is where most radios have this nowadays, and that is selecting which alerts you want to receive. You can select which ones you want and ones you don't. But kind in mind, you might get a "check reception" message if you don't recieve alerts within 10 days, so I would suggest the "Weekly Test" message to be alertable (by default, it will only scroll.) However, unlike most radios, (some might have this) it's where you can add your own alerts that are not on there by default, like Snow Squall Warning for example. It really is a excellent radio, although some people might not have the money or just don't want it. That's fine, I get that. By the way, if you were wondering, this is a Version 8 as seen when you first plug this radio in or putting the batteries in. For people who are looking for this kind of radio, I would recommend it. For a cheaper radio that still does the job, get a WR120. Both will suit you well. It's your choice.

    Excellent Radio
    I am extremely pleased with this radio. It has great sound, and it offers a tremendous number of features. I live in an area where severe storms are fairly common, so this radio will have a permanent place with my emergency gear. The WR300 is exactly what I was looking for in a weather radio.
