Replace the old technology!
I had an older router and my wifi to my computer and streaming to my TV would keep dropping out; I blamed the cable company! I replaced the old router with the Netgear router and it seemed to have fixed the problem, I'm just sayin.....

Doesn't work, the app for it is terrible.
Maybe it's not compatible with Charter internet or something, but for some reason it wouldn't actually work even though I followed all the instructions. It connected to my modem, it lit up and everything, and I even installed the app for it, but it didn't actually produce internet for my devices. My main question is why does it even need an app to connect to the internet? The current router I use doesn't. The only reason I bought this router is because my modem is on the opposite side of the house from my computer and game systems, so the signal is a tad weaker. I figured getting a new router would rectify this, but that didn't pan out. Strongly advise against it. I want a refund and unfortunately I doubt that's gonna happen but don't buy this. And to the manufacturer: Stop giving every piece of tech an app. Not everything needs one, it should work fine just being plugged into the right sockets.

I apparently have bought two of these routers first one didn't last a year and this one hasn't lasted six months. Kept dropping signal now not working at all. My other routers lasted for years. No more Netgear for me

    Keeps dropping internet
I recently switched to Google Webpass, and bought this as one of the recommended routers. Unfortunately, it keeps randomly dropping the internet even after updating the firmware. The technician who helped install Webpass says this has apparently been an issue w/ this specific model.

Our internet used to sit and load and laod and was SO annoying. Enter Netgear WiFi Router.... the dark days of slow screen loading is way back in the dust! It's so fast. Love it!

great product, but did not last as long as expecte
I bought this router about 4 years ago when i first got gigabit internet. The router worked great, and all the setting/readycloud were fairly easy to use and understand. I do a lot of game server hosting, and port forwarding with it was never an issue. however, about 3 years into owning it the 5GHz antenna died. it would constantly drop connection and signal, and slowly deteriorated until 5g was useless, and even turned off. (and yes i updated to newest firmware, factory reset and everything else i could think of. this is unfortunately not a very uncommon issue.) I was disappointed, but continued to use just the 2.4GHz band, and had no issues. Until about another year passed; at which point the 2.4g antenna followed the same fate. i had retired it to being an access point not too long ago, but now it can not even handle that. again, great product for the first 3 years. i do not know how common this issue is, but i have seen many people with the same experience. if you plan to replace/upgrade after about 3 years, then it is probably a very good router for you to choose.

Great for today's multitude of devices
My network was crashing and lagging constantly. After juggling 3 old routers and trying setting up extenders or dual networks I decided it was time to upgrade finally. What once worked was failing as my family and technology grew. Essentially I had too many wireless devices. This nighthawk fit the bill exactly and is handling my household perfectly. It is currently providing for 2 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2 android phones, 3 dlink cameras, 360, PS3, 1 appletv, psp vita, laptop, surface and Directv all wirelessly while also networked to two tplink 8 port switches that have about 10 devices hard lined, which on "game night" has 3 ps4's or xboxones playing online together. We are a gamer family and this nighthawk has held up extremely well. I've had it for little over a month and no problems yet. Seriously recommend this and as with any router do the extended warranty as I've never heard of a router that doesn't fail with serious use, at least peace of mind on expensive equipment for cheap, believe I paid 19 for 3 years, which to me is a no brainer. Almost forgot, the iPhone/iPad app works great for maintaining your network and can even reboot remotely when adding on. 5ghz ac, 2.4 ghz, and guest networks of each. Range was huge upgrade over my old as well.

    Excellent little device
Purchased at Walmart. 1/27/2014 $199.98 This device replaces a Cisco router. Set up for this device is extremely easy. It's very powerful device too. In fact, when it resets the reset signal is powerful enough to interfere with my over the air TV antenna. During normal operation though I've had no challenges with interference. The app that you can download for your devices is very useful. You can do almost all of your router maintenance from the app. I don't have to log into the router via a webpage very often at all. The media drive feature and the turbo transfer has been a little awkward set up and going. It "works", but it's just not as convenient as I would like. Every once a while connection to the Internet gets intermittent and we have to reboot the router. However, that happens every month or so and it's not enough of an annoyance to significantly impact my rating. We have 20+ devices that connect this particular router. My wife and I work at home via VPN connections. We have teenagers too that do a lot of video streaming. Monthly we push close to 100 GB of data through the router with no issues to speak of. We had previously moved to Cisco because of some challenges with our previous routers from Netgear. However, this one seems to have won us back!
