Was always a Nighthawk fan until now
Ive always loved and used netgear products for 20 years until this unit. My last nighthawk lasted for years and handled everything we threw at it till my wife started working solely from home (Covid) and killed it. Bought this router to follow my previous nighthawk and it just failed! Upgraded my internet speeds from 100 Mbps to 1 Gig and it honestly wouldn't preform anything past 250 Mbps. Had my service provider come to my home twice replacing modems and moving equipment, adjusting settings followed by contacting Netgear customer support and following their recommendations to fix performance, to me replacing my Cat5 to Cat6 cable and buying a new router. With that being said easiest solution to the problems with this router is buy a Linksys from Bestbuy! Im at $700 in a little over a month over this router alone. Was always a specific brand guy until now. My new linksys MR9600 from Bestbuy ($70 more) took me from annoying App to easy set up App and max 250 Mbps download and 176 Mbps upload to 939 Mbps upload and 940 Mbps download....until Netgear steps up its game I'll officially as of today buy Linksys....Once I get a picture of the netgear speeds Ill update the photos but the current image is from the new Linksys.

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser06/23/2021Amazed by the performance of this router!!!I bought the Netgear Nighthawk R8000 router for my firehouse is to give us a WiFi connection to be able to do classes, training, an fire call reports. It ended up working way better than I thought it would. I have been blown away by its performance, ease of setup, an overall security that comes with this product. An now we are in the process of getting a second router to put in our other building as well. 100% Worth BuyingNicholas

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/11/2021Dissatisfied5g faults at times and router has to be reset. Today I received a notice that my camera was offline. Got home and it was like the router factory reset itself. I had to completely start over like I was connecting for the first time. Very disappointed for a router at this price to have these issues.GOMMOM

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/15/2021Not up to speedWe bought this when we had up to 400 Mbps, then updated to 1000 Mbps, but this router never went above 500 Mbps on any device, hard wired or Wifi. Switched out modems and had the same result. Very disappointing and we can't get Netgear to help us unless we pay more.SLCKFC

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser04/01/2020Holy crap this thing is BEASTSo I was skeptical about purchasing this router over a different one. I think i made a solid choice in the end however. My mbps went from 89mbps to an ASTONISHING 380mpbs. Online gaming ping is stupid low, and I'm able to stream movies on my xbox while my daughter does the same on her tablet with zero buffering. Setup is a breeze, and the app is very nice to have, as you can cut off the wifi to devices as you wish ( great for bedtimes or when they are grounded ). I'd buy again, if I needed to.Andrew

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/30/2017Much faster wi-fiWe have a lot of devices connected to our wi-fi and it was slow and annoying. I replaced the little router that the internet provider gave us with this beauty and it's a big difference! We even have 2 different connections, so we can use them for different devices. I'm very happy.CindyT

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/04/2017Crazy looking and top of the line!I literally tried 5 different routers over a period of 1 week, trying to find the perfect device for my needs. The price is on the higher side then most routers on the market, and it was a major consideration at first, until I plugged it in and set it up! Tri-band, 8 external antenna, ddwrt capable, with many advanced functors available. Game consoles smart TVs smart phones tablets and computers all occupy this houses and they all run faster than they ever have! It's a keeper!Aubreecluck
