Good Basic Reel
I have 3 of these reels and have had no problems with them. I run 10 to 14 pound test mono line and fish my top water and soft plastic jerk baits and it performs well! I wouldn't use it for flipping into heavy cover because I'm not sure it has the power to pull a bass out. It does have good speed, it's light, comfortable and easy to cast. It is not made for dragging a big ole catfish out of the river! I'm sure one would destroy it! For the money and using it for what it was designed for you can't go wrong.

Dont do it
After a month of limited use the reel screams bad when casting and now the bail (thumb button) will not automatically close after a cast when the handle is turned. I tried oil with no luck. It still functions and I have to manually push the thumb button up after a cast but its not a quality reel. Spend a few extra bucks and get a good reel. Its worth little extra to not get frustrated on whats should be a relaxing day of fishing.

    Worst baitcaster I've owned
I have a few baitcasters, and they wall work really well. But this one just require patience. I lined it up and the brake does nothing, tension nothing. I assume the reel is broken, so I won't waste my money on another.

    Better than expected
My daughter bought this for me as a Christmas present. It's much cheaper than my other baitcasters. I assumed it was going to be garbage, but it's not. Yes, it feels cheap and has some cons (cheap / small handles, sub-par drag, stiff thumb bar). But it nails the most important feature to me. This thing casts as well as any reel I own. I've only used lighter lures on it (1/8 oz to 1/2 oz) and will probably not push it beyond that. I would recommend as a backup, for a teenager who loses / breaks stuff or if you just pond fish a few times a year and don't want to spend a lot of money on gear.

    best bang for the buck
This is a tough little reel. It,s cheep but it works very well. I have personally burned through 3 of these reels in the past 10 years. Great bang for the buck. I would stand this reel up against some of the finer more expensive reels on the market. Great product!!!

    Awesome Performance
I bought this Reel This past summer and combined with the medium action Shakespeare Ugly stick it was an awesome pairing! It never let me down once all season and performed fish after fish cast after cast. I would highly recommend this company and product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

    great inexpensive reel !
bought last fall and put it on a 6' med/light rod with 10lb line. I use it at city lake for bass and trout. Throw 1/4 oz crankbaits and innline spinners for hours at a time. Have not caught any monster fish with it but, a lot of 1to 3 pounders. Drag works great! Nice reel for the money. :-)

    Smooth yard eating casts!
I matched this with the Ugly Stik Inshore medium heavy. Throwing 1oz heads with 7" swimbaits is a breeze. This comes with an impressive drag rate for pulling in those saltwater bass.

Light weight, smooth retrieve, overall awesome ree
bought this reel for some light tackled saltwater fishing and its awesome! spool hold plenty of line so if i hook up to a fish that wants to run im not worried about spooling out (have about 150 yds of 30# braid). its light weight and has good balance on light action poles. partnered this reel with a new GX2 uglystik and its perfect for sea bass, fluke/flounder, porgies, and the occasional cocktail blue. i only give it 4 out of 5 because i would have liked the star drag to be made of metal instead of plastic
