Great starting for the young ones
Plastic screw/ rivet yes but easy to take out and holds in place well. My twin girls love their rods first day I took them fishing they brought in plenty of small sunfish and one 5 pounder bass. Of course I changed the line to a 10lb line but works great! The only way to make it better is to make it float

Great set- until the line breaks
The first time we went fishing my daughter caught 8 fish. The second time we went, on the third cast, she got hung up broke her line and reeled back into the reel. Just like the other reviews it is impossible to fix with that plastic screw. Now we have a broken reel and an unhappy little girl.

    Great toy. Thin wire.
    My 9-year-old daughter loved it, and it is now our cat's favorite toy. The wire should be thicker because it breaks all the time, and we have to keep retying it to the fish.

    Bought the light up woody pole during a camping trip and broke the push button on the first day. My son loves the pole and was so disappointed to see it broken. Both sides of the plastic ankors broke. From what I've seen in other reviews this is a common problem. The spool was easy to dissasemble and access the broken area. The foam fish it came with to catch are amazing and my son loves to try to catch them. Only disappointed that the button broke on the first day so easily and then he didn't have his pole anymore.

    Horrible will never buy again
    I bought this fishing rod for my niece we plan on going fishing tomorrow only to realise that it cannot be stung. The plastic screw holding the cap just keeps spinning. Ended up destroying the whole just to try and get it out. Waste of time and money save yourself the trouble and pick a different pole.

    Broke after 10 minutes
    I have cheap combos that I bought my kids 25 years ago that still work. I wanted a new rod for my 4 year grandson who loves Super Heroes, so I bought him a shiny new Spiderman combo. The base of the reel was zip tied on, which should have been my first clue. It broke off the first half hour used. Cheap plastic base, that can’t withstand normal torque. I was going to try and fix it, but I will let him use my 25 year old reel/ rod combo that I put new line in.

    Heartbreaking
    My daughter broke the line and now it is stuck in the reel? You make a child’s product with fishing line that breaks, and expect it not to? Come on. I will never buy another one of your products if this is how you do business. I don’t know one adult who has never broken a line, even with spider wire. Break line, buy a new one, what a business model.

    Cannot use more than once!!
    I bought this Frozen fishing reel for my daughter the line broke off inside and I cannot get the cap off to fix it..I've always been a huge Shakespeare fan and have bought many of the products they offer but this has been not only disappointing for me but for my 3 year old daughter also!!!!!
