Good for the price.
Bought as a combo for catfish, rod is great. Reel is okay, not a great caster, but that is with new line, will give it a bit to get better. Sometimes the after casting the bail is hard to get back over to retrieve. Not bad over all for the money.

    Highly recommend
    Bought this for targeting channel catfish in Vermont. Haven't gotten to try it on them yet, but will this weekend. But this combo has brought in a 24” rainbow trout on a local lake with complete ease. Definitely good bang for the buck

    Have not used it yet, line on for salmon fishing in NY, more heavy than medium, reel feels like smooth drag system sufficient to handle large fish, should do what I need

    Great fishing pole combo
    Came shipped securley and fast . Everything worked as it should out of the box . Seems like a nice starter combo . I strung mine with 50lb braided line and it casts very nicely . Straightforward and simple , the rod itself seems nearly indestructible and will surely hold up against even the biggest fish .

    I bought this set and took it to the Chesapeake Bay and I casted once and pulled this monster catfish who fought us to death. RIP Mr. cat he is going into the fryer soon... bought another set for the husband.

    Handles big flatheads!
    You can't go wrong with an Ugly Stik. Add a Shakespeare reel, for this price?!! I bought one thinking I wouldn't like it, but I had to try it. I use it in the river for catfish and have been extremely happy with it! The reel is smooth, casts great and the rod is perfect. Very good combo at unbelievable price. You can see the rod and reel in the pic.

    Catfish combo is stellar!
    I bought my first Catfish combo four months ago and it is a great all around rod. I liked it so much I bought a second one. I use it for casting and trolling. The flex in this rod is perfect for hooking and landing big Lake trout while trolling, it keeps good pressure on the hook and reduces single hook spit outs. Ugly Stick keeps producing solid gear and this one is an all around winner for all lake and river fishing! Thanks
