Ugly Stick Elite rods
Bought 2 6ft 2 piece medium action ugly stick elite rods to replace my 12 year old ugly sticks which were great rods, the new elite rods look nice and seem to be built well, we’ll see if they hold up as well as the originals, I have paired them up with 2 Okuma reels a trios 30 and a trios 30s. Can’t wait to try them out.

good blank, bad handle
I bought this about a year 1/2 ago and handle delaminated. It looks like a premium cork handle but it isn't. There is a thin layer of cork wrapped around the crappy cork inside.

    Too Early to Tell
    It's an Ugly Stick-sturdy and dependable. This is my first Elite after several GX2's. I've had the rod for 1 week and fished it once in very benign conditions. I'm rating it a 4 as a reflection of my GX2 experience. Ask me again in 6 months and I'll be able to give a more detailed review. However, if you only have GX2's, why not give the Elite a try.

    Light tackle Guide's all-around rod
    Let me start by saying that I have clients with all levels of experience and many are very hard on gear. Ugly Stiks have been my go to rod for my charter business needs for over 20 years. This rod in particular really works well as an all around rod for a number of species and tactics on board our boat. Whether we are fighting 1lb snapper blues or 15lb blues with heavy topwater plugs these rods really kick butt. I have had clients land 35lb striped bass and even an accidental 45lb cownose ray on these rods. Know that I have other rods that are of higher graphite content and faster stiffer actions on board as well, but these are way more forgiving and actually HELP the angler to land more fish!

    This is an awesome fishing rod for 50 bucks, looks way more expensive in person. It's definitely lighter than the gx2 model which my gf an I each have 2 of those. You can tell this was designed to be more sensitive but still have the ugly stik strength. I'll be upgrading all our gx2 ‘ s with these elites in the future tho. I bought the one I did to use as an all purpose medium to heavy fish class. Bass, pike, Muskie and channel cats mostly. I paired mine with a Lews American hero 400.

    Eyelets too small
    Great action. Great sensitivity. Great balance. Amateur spinning rod design mistake making the top few eyelets too small for even the smallest swivel to fit through.

    The Elite is a fix for all areas that needed it.
    I have used the Shakespeare Ugly Stik rods for nearly 40 years and still use the same old rods I bought in the mid eighties. Some of those were bullet proof but did not have the sensitivity and were extremely heavy compared to the rods today. In my opinion the Elite is a perfect fix for pretty much all areas. Very light with so much more sensitivity, the guides are a big improvement to the old inserts that kept popping out, and the 7'6" rods gives me a slightly better casting distance. For 50 buck I don't see how you can beat this rod that gives you this kind of performance and longevity.

    I purchased this rod to use as a bottom bouncer rod for my boat. I am glad that I did. The extra fast tip has plenty of action and can handle the workload.
