I already had one so i got this one for my super special lady friend and now we can go and fish in the kayaks where longer poles would not work.

Not typical of typical Ugly Stik quality standards
I've had many Ugly Stik rods over the years and this is the only one that's ever broke and virtually fell apart. It started with the bottom cap of the handle falling off (which didn't affect the rod performance) and then a month later the rod snapped in two. The rod is less than 1 year old. Also, the eyes have slight rust already and I'm adamant about rinsing the rod after each outing. I have 4 other Ugly Stik rods and none of them have had these issues. I write this review so Shakespeare can work on it's quality control. I'll continue to be a loyal customer, but will make sure I closely inspect future Ugly Stiks that I purchase. I would try to return this for a refund, but I don't have the receipt any longer.

    Light rods for all day casting
    Fantastic light rods for the price. Medium heavy 7' baitcast is perfect for small lures as well nk larger baits. An all around rod. They also look great. Will compete with my more expensive rods, and do well. The new rods aren't like the heavy catfish rods at all. Light and cast straight with great distance.

    Ugly stick eye issues
    I have bought ugly stick rods for years. I still have over 10 rods of the old style withe ceramic eyes. I love them. However I purchased the new style ugly stick GX2 with the stainless eyes. After a few months of crankbait fishing for walleye, I found the eyes to have grooves being cut by the line. I have already replaced the end eye for excessive groove wear. I am no longer in love with new style ugly sticks.

    Great Rod
    I bought my gx2 mainly for pan fishing but decided to use it for salmon fishing here in Wisconsin this year and landed my biggest king salmon so far this year 30.5lbs

    amazing quality
    i was fishing for walleye using a GX2 5'6 medium action pulling a crawler harness for walleye and hooked a massive sturgeon. using a bait cast reel and 20lb test braid. seriously though this pole was going to snap. it held up and i actually landed the fish. i was amazed at how well the GX2 handled this massive fish. Ive now decided to replace all my rods with GX2's.

    Great travel rod!
    I bought this rod to do some shore fishing in Mexico and wanted a rod that would fit in my luggage. This rod was great. Easily detected the lightest hits and handled a 20lb ray like a boss.

    Strong as ever!
    I have had my gx2 in a medium action for right at one year. Amazing upgrade! Very sensitive when needed but strong backbone when it matters most. Generally fish for walleye and bass and the occasional pike. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

    Awesome rod!
    I had the original ugly stick 7'' ugly stick one peice rod, I had it for almost 8 years and I lost it during a move from state to state and I was very sad about it. Then I ordered the ugly stick x2 7'' one piece rod and have been using it over the last two weeks and it was just like the old days! Great casting, not over sensitive but just right caught a few nice snapper and 13 pound Amber jack and it held up great ! Those fish are rod breakers and my new rod is solid still! Good work guys on the craftsmen ship and the quick dilivery ! I'll def be back for more! Thanks again - Jon !
