Great travel rod!
I bought this rod to do some shore fishing in Mexico and wanted a rod that would fit in my luggage. This rod was great. Easily detected the lightest hits and handled a 20lb ray like a boss.

Ugly stick eye issues
I have bought ugly stick rods for years. I still have over 10 rods of the old style withe ceramic eyes. I love them. However I purchased the new style ugly stick GX2 with the stainless eyes. After a few months of crankbait fishing for walleye, I found the eyes to have grooves being cut by the line. I have already replaced the end eye for excessive groove wear. I am no longer in love with new style ugly sticks.

    Awesome Rod with one draw back
    I've had two 7 ft medium heavy rods going on 6 years now. I love this rod it works for small fish and handles the big ones no problem. Where I fish is alot of structure on a small river. So that means you can not give these fish a inch. The only draw back to this rod is if you run braided line like I do it will wear a groove in the first eye. If they made the first eye out of harder/thicker material it would be the perfect rod. I would recommend this rod to anyone. But like I said if you run braided line might want too think about the elite rods.

    Probably a bit lenghty, But!?
    I have purchased the Ugly Stiks for some time now and they have always preformed well for me. Never had an Ugly Stik that I didn't like. I like the feel of the Stik and the lightness of it compared to others I have tried. It is a very durable rod and definitely gets the job done for me.I will continue to buy the Ugly Stik because it delivers a good solid day of fishing for me. Never a problem with the Ugly Stik. What more could you possibly ask for out of a fishing rod?

    Good casting, Smooth retrievel
    I bought this about a month ago, and very pleased with the performance, I'm using 12 pound fluorocarbon on it, it cast great and the retrieval is nice and smooth, better than one of my comparable pfluegers

    Very Smooth Reel
    I just got two more Ugly Stiks. I love these things. I saw the new GX2 and wanted to give it a try. I am very pleased with the rod like always but the reel was impressive. These are relatively inexpensive combos and the reel feels like I should have paid more. It is smooth to reel and easy to cast. Good job on this one. P.S. I once had a Ugly Stik catfish pole shut into my tailgate and it didn't break...Been a fan ever since.

    Awesome rod!
    I had the original ugly stick 7'' ugly stick one peice rod, I had it for almost 8 years and I lost it during a move from state to state and I was very sad about it. Then I ordered the ugly stick x2 7'' one piece rod and have been using it over the last two weeks and it was just like the old days! Great casting, not over sensitive but just right caught a few nice snapper and 13 pound Amber jack and it held up great ! Those fish are rod breakers and my new rod is solid still! Good work guys on the craftsmen ship and the quick dilivery ! I'll def be back for more! Thanks again - Jon !
