Ignore all the bad reviews! We LOVE this!
Received Christmas of 2019 and have used on average twice a month with zero problems. We follow the care directions each time. The bowl is stored in the freezer and we pull it out when we are ready to use it. Typically we make ice cream late in the evening so the bowl sits on the kitchen counter until the next morning in order to thaw completely. Then we wash it dry it and return it to the freezer in the morning. This ensures that we have never cracked the bowl or had any problems with it.

Loved it at first...
I received this for my birthday last July. I LOVED it and it worked wonderfully. I was able to make my favorite flavors that I can't get regularly at my grocery store (bubblegum, chocolate malt, etcetera) but after using it three or four times, I put it away. This summer, I pulled it out a few days ago and froze it, all ready to make some fresh fruit flavored ice creams. Instead what I found was a pool of blue liquid at the bottom of my freezer and an ice cream maker that only half freezes recipes now. I am disappointed that my attachment is now useless after only a few uses. Since it is still leaking the freezing agent, I assume it will soon not even half freeze anything.

    Great product!
    After purchasing An ice cream maker attachment for my son, I decided to purchase one for myself. I have found no problems or issues with it. It is very easy to use and works like a champ. Lots of bad reviews out there, but I've had absolutely no issues. Would highly recommend.

    Starts leaking blue coolant after 3 months!
    We were very excited to purchase this attachment for our stand mixer. We followed all instructions properly and have made a few different batches of ice cream without issue. We always wait for the bowl attachment to completely cool down after using before even attempting to wash it (leave it for 24 hours to room temperature). Then we let it completely dry after hand-washing it before putting it back in our freezer. For some reason 3 months after we purchased it, it started leaking blue coolant liquid all over our freezer! Not impressed, especially with how much it cost. Don't feel safe using it anymore obviously. Do not recommend.

    Flimsy drive assembly
    The second time I used the ice cream maker, the drive assembly for the ice cream bowl suddenly chipped in half, making the rest of the ice cream maker useless. I can't find anywhere to order a replacement for that particular part, but without it, the rest of the ice cream maker unusable.

    Never given me a problem
    I have had my ice cream maker for 10 years now! It's always been kept in my large freezer so it's ready to go. It's never leaked, parts have never broken. Always churns out perfect ice cream for me. I have followed the directions, and cared for this bowl properly. I use it at least twice a month.

    Great product except....
    We purchased this bowl a couple of years ago and have used it several times and loved it but we just pulled it out to freeze it and we found a blue puddle. Would love to recommend this product but unfortunately I can't. I can't even say we got our moneys worth out of it because of the price and the fact that we weren't even able to use it enough times to make it worth the purchase.

    Made great ice cream--- twice
    Have enjoyed my Kitchenaid for years now and thought the ice cream maker would be a nice addition, especially when the grandkids came over. Unfortunately, a key component broke after using it only twice.The drive assembly broke. I have two model kitchen aids and the drive assemble did not fit either models according tot he directions. By the third use, the assembly slipped off the dasher bending the shaft and damaging the short wire intending to keep in in place. Am surprised by the poor design and over emphasis on plastic in the design (my original attachments were metal and have lasted me 35+ years).

    I got the Ice cream attachment for Christmas and I made Strawberry Banana Ice Cream to try it out and since then I've been making fruit sherbet because is healthier. Me and my 3 year old grandson love to make them.

    Quality Issues Leaking Blue Internal Fluid
    I bought this ice cream maker attachment, and it makes ice cream well. However, after minimal use, it developed a small crack at one of the non-handle flanges and it leaked blue internal fluid in our freezer rendering it useless (see attached image of crack and traces of blue fluid after clean up). We handle the product well, and let it get to room temperature before washing, so it shouldn't be due to a sudden temperature change. Looking at other reviews, the blue fluid leaks pretty consistently for others after a short time too, so it must be a design or manufacturing flaw. Look elsewhere for a long term ice cream maker.

    Very good, but....
    I bought this about 2 years ago. I was very happy with this...I guess I still am. It works really well and I love making ice cream, actually I bought the Artisan mixer because I want to make ice cream with this attachment. But after 2 years, its days finally come to an end. Last week, after 2 months since the last time I used it...my wife started noticing there was a blue liquid leaking at one side of the bowl.Then I saw that there was actually a horizontal crack close to the "ear" of the bowl. I don't know what I should do, so I sent a mail to the Kitchenaid office in Missisauga, ON, Canada and now I'm still waiting what can I do to fix it or whether they would do anything about it (if I'm lucky enough). Hopefully my love story with this ice cream maker ends in a happy ending.
