Broke after 4 uses!
I purchased this mid-last season of last year to use in my yard of 15,000 sq feet. It was brand new from Blains Farm and Fleet and one of the more expensive choices. As I was finishing up today the spin plate broke off from the plastic shaft, rendering it useless. I don't believe at this point it's returnable to the retailer — very disappointing as my last no-name one lasted over 15 years.

    Worth product I ever buy.
I bought this Deluxe Scotts spreader in May 2021, used only 4 times and on five-time wheel broke off. I did not use it even 6 hours total and now it trash. Really bad design, cheap and flimsy plastic. Not recommended buy unless you want to waste money.

    So Far So Good!!!
I bought this machine to replace the green version of this spreader. It was not good at all so I decided to step it up with this purchase. What I Like:- Ease of assembly- metal spreader pins vise plastic- Bigger solid wheels- Handles and controlsWhat I don't like:- Pins for wheels are little flimsy for their use.I have used this to spread new fescue seeds and to apply fertilizer to my lawn. It evenly spread's the product in comparison to the lower green model which spreads to one side only. It is easy to push across your lawn with the bigger tires and ergonomics are great. So if your looking for a good spreader try this one out!

My third unit, non lasted 3-years
I've purchased three of these over the years and non made it 3 seasons. All three broke at the agitator or somewhere between the agitator and spreader plate. I completely rinse out the spreader after each use and store indoors between use so it's not a maintenace issue. Parts are all plastic and just don't hold up well. If replacement parts were available this last unit could likely be easily repaired.

Newer Models = Agitator Too Short
I had a 2014 worked like a thoroughbred till axle rusted through and snapped. Bought a new one in April 2023, and it kept clogging - on closer inspection, the agitator arms are much shorter and don't reach the clogs. Now I have to gerry rig something or swap agitators etc... PIA I'm guessing someone got their fingers stuck in the drop hole and lost'em!

    It does the job
Walmart's price was less than Home Depot or Amazon- good price for the name brand. The Scott's spreader does the job, probably better than comparably priced spreaders, and rotary spreaders are much faster distributing lawn fertilizer than the drop spreaders, but my previous one of the same model developed a broken rotator after only two years-- make sure you don't keep unused fertilizer in the tray, or it gets lumpy and the somewhat cheap plastic parts can't handle it.

    Worked 1-1/2 times
My old Scott’s Spreader lasted 10 yrs so, went and bought a nice new one. I’m one of those that enjoys my 60 x 75 lawn. The new one last 1-1/2 times. I was spreading winter rye. Easy work and the right wheel fell off! On inspection, the axle assembly was worse than a child’s toy! Bad, don’t waist your money. In the photo, still has the sticker and the plastic pins during shipping.

    Poor results
I bought this last fall and used it 3 times, all with poor results. Like others have mentioned I got green lines throughout my yard and a lot of material left on the wheels. I am wondering if the wheels are not performing properly; they might not be turning properly thus not dispensing fertilizer properly. On the plus side, I will say it is nice to have a hopper large enough to cover my 13,000 sq ft lawn and the edge guard is a plus. Given that the wheels are not working properly and fertilizer is not distributed properly (the main reason for purchasing a spreader) I would not recommend this product. If at all possible I'd like a refund or replacement unit.

EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader Leaves Lines
I bought the Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard DLX Broadcast Spreader March 2022. I have used it once and my lawn has green stripes where the middle of the spreader traveled. The EdgeGuard was not switched to the on position, so that was not the problem. I have done my own lawn care for 45 years & used Scott's Speedy Green for the last 12 years with no problems. The stripes are NOT related to overlap or user error. Problem was over 8K sq ft, and not related to amount of material in spreader.

    Works great
Received the spreader fully assembled -- that's great. Followed the directions on the bag and set the knob of the spreader -- so simple. Best of all, at the correct setting, the fertilizer went a long way. Best of all, three weeks later my lawn is beautifully green and flourishing, .

This will work great for my yard.
First let me mention I haven't had a chance to use the product yet as its very cold in MN and its close to May. As far as putting together it was super simple. Just a couple of screws and its ready to go. If you use scotts products all of the bags give a number to set at so its really easy with this spredder. Just turn the dial to the recommended settings. We have a large yard so I went with this model as the spredder is deep and holds a large amount of Scotts seed or fertilizer. Seems easy to use and the quality is good enough. I don't need an old 25 year metal very heavy spreader. This will work great. Will update on usage later in the spring if we have one.

    Don't buy this spreader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This spreader was used as directed but put stripes in my yard. The bulk of the product released by this spreader is blocked by the wheels and only broadcasts the width of the spreader. I contacted Scotts. They need to redesign this product. Read the reviews - many others have had the same problem.

    Stripes your lawn!
This spreader does nothing but stripe the lawn. The impeller is at a lower height than the tires, so fertilizer/seed/etc gets caught between the tires causing too much product being dropped directly below the spreader. I would avoid this spreader if I were you.

    Clog up
I use scotts fertilizer and the bag says to set the setting on 3 1/2 and chunks in the fertilizer clog up and does not dispense product. You have to turn the settings up to 11 to 12 and hope it works better on that setting. I have to go back and redo my yard. Not happy.

    Poorly designed
The product are hitting on the left wheel because of an almost even height . This results in lines of greener grass on my lawn . Look at the picture below

    So Disappointed
I bought the DLX spreader because I had such great luck with my 15 year old Speedy Green. I have a 1.1 acre lot. I recently bought the DLX and after setting the dial per the Turf Builder plus Halts label, I walked the lawn. I noticed that it didn't appear to be distributing much product and after walking an area of 15,000 sq ft, I had 1/2 of a 15,000 sq ft bag left. So, I spread the area a second time then adjusted the dial up to 6 and continued spreading my lot. I have about 37,000 sq ft of grass total and used 1-3/4 bags rated at 15,000 sq ft each at twice the bag instructed setting. It also seemed that the spreader was not distributing product. Rather, it seemed to be dropping it between the wheels. After two weeks and some good rain, I have a yard of 8 to 12" wide green stripes, 5 feet apart. I intend to try to return this spreader as I certainly will not use it again.
