Not safe if you have even the smallest base boards
We have inch high baseboards and thought it would be safe enough to set the gate on top of them. But the mesh has enough give for my daughter to lift it up and squeeze herself under it. Definitely do NOT put this at the top of the stairs despite what the manufacturer says.

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser09/03/2020DangerousDo NOT buy this baby gate. My 1 yr old little pushed on the gate and it popped right open. He tumbled all the way down the stairs. 12 stairs. Luckily only some bumps and bruises. But it could have been far worse. Do not buy this gate.AmberPi

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser09/02/2020Terrible quality. DO NOT BUYI purchased this gate a few months ago and have been using it since May. In that time the bottom stitching has come apart, little rubber decorative strips continuously fall off and are a chocking hazard, and the top of the gate has started fraying.Disappointed123

4.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/29/2020Fits wider spaces , easy to removeWe bought this gate 5 years ago when we built a large new deck and it had a wider than normal steps and a wide opening. We can let our two dogs out on the deck and not worry. It has aged well and survived sun, wind and rain. It is easy to open and close, although the lock has stumped a few of our human friends! It gets a lot of traffic in the summer. A accident has cause a tear in the bottom and I am ordering a replacement.Maritimejudy

3.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser10/29/2019Retractable gate.I use for dogs. They can get under and they also lean on top and warp it. I wish Id was stronger and made of less flexible material.Maggie’s Mutts

3.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser05/17/2019Retractable GateThis gate is great! Convenient and low profile. Only complaint is the mesh wears quickly ... mine is starting to fray after only a few weeks of opening and closing (that's why less than 5 stars)KD123

5.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser02/03/2019Great gate where others won't workWe have a funny layout where the bedrooms are off of the kitchen. We needed to corral our toddler between his room and ours for overnights after we stopped cosleeping at 22 months. No normal gate would work. We ended up adhering the wall bracket with 3M tape to the fridge and the gate itself to a door frame. It works perfectly, at a 45 degree angle from the wall. This gate is best when you don't need to mess with it often. We close it before sleep and open it when we wake. It's stiff but not super flimsy. I would trust it at the top of stairs, but it's great to sort of pinball a sleepy toddler into where he should be. It wouldn't be my first choice for a doorway, but it's great where another gate won't work. Also, others have mentioned there is no pattern on the gate? There is.Dashofdirt

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser01/04/2019Do not buyI purchased two of these gates and installed one. All in all, this gate is a piece of junk. I'm not one to leave bad reviews but, I feel in this case, it is warranted. I cannot for the life of me get the mesh to retract fully, not on the first try, second or twentieth. It is a struggle to pull the gate open and attach it to the catch rail. I certainly can't manage it with one hand. I am, generally, very capable. This is not a case of end user error. This gate is far too difficult to use and clearly doesn't work as its designed to. I have tried both the gates I purchased and neither function properly. Lastly, the mesh is not as pictured. It does not have a pattern on it as pictured in the description but is a stiff mesh with no embellishment. I returned these gates.Shanna

1.00 out of 5 stars reviewVerified Purchaser10/09/2018Horrible gateHorrible not worth the money, when gates in locked position it doesn't take much of a push for the gate to fall of the track holding it shutUnknown
