Small but mighty!
I was a little skeptical about this sewing machine at first. It only weighs about 4 pounds and is kind of small. Do not let that fool you this little machine is great for small jobs eg. Lightweight fabrics, hemming, and light sewing. Doesn't work great on heavy thick fabrics. Lots of stitch designs to choose from. Overall a great little machine.

The thread continually wrapped Around a knob underneath the bobbin and jammed the sewing machine. I had to Take off the plate and Unwind the thread from around the knob like 5 or 6 times

    Great for what it is
This is a super small, super light, very bare-bones machine for mending. It's a little loud, a little clunky-sounding, but it runs smoothly and does what it's supposed to. It has almost all the features of my early-80s era Singer other than the option to choose stitch length. You can pick from a variety of needle positions, a few different zig-zag stitches, and straight stitch. There's a tension adjuster and a reverse lever. It's SO lightweight. Easy to hold in one hand. Even the pedal is tiny and adorable. It's wildly easy to transport and perfect to whip out for a quick re-hemming or other mending job.

    Great beginner machine.
This is a great compact machine. I have an older singer which I love. This nice machine I will using to introduce my grandson and granddaughter to the sewing world. Everyone needs to know at least the basics to sewing. I have 3 sons and they have repaired jeans, curtains and even made a workshop apron. Needless to say their wives are impressed with their sewing skills. The machine has several features. It's lightweight and portable, has 32 stitch options, a free arm that is great for cuffs, also has a drop in bobbin that works great. It has easy to follow instructions. If you are looking for a beginner machine or a portable one to take on the go I highly recommend this one. It also come with several accessories. Extra needles, bobbins and a threader. If your looking for simple give this one a try.

    These last for years
I purchased this for my mom for Christmas. She has one that she has had for long as I can remember years and years.. it's the same brand singer. She has done a lot of sawing on it. It's still going but I thought it was time for a updated one so it was a no brainier on witch brand to purchase her. She was very happy with her gift and uses it a lot and has had no complaints at all and been using it for 7 to 8 months now. She made me a gorgeous set of curtains using this machine I have included a pic of the curtains she made using it.

    Nice and lightweight
I mended a rip in a pair of pants, removed elastic waistband from another and sewed it right back up. I would say it is probably good for mending or light fabric projects. I wouldn't try to make a dress or a large project on this machine, but it might work. the foot pedal is not a variator, it is simple a basic on/off switch. Meaning that there is no way to change the sewing speed, and there is no way to do a soft start or end slowly. It's lightweight.

GREAT MACHINE FOR SMALLER SEWING PROJECTS
I have not owned a sewing machine in quite a few years, so when offered the opportunity to try this Singer M1000 Mending Machine in exchange for my opinion, I gladly accepted. Once it arrived, I removed it from the styrofoam casing it had shipped in and opened up the detailed user guide. The instructions for threading the machine were fairly easy to follow. It came with a pre-threaded bobbin, which I really appreciated, even though it's pretty simple to add thread to an empty bobbin. The top of this sewing machine has diagrams that step through the process. Things got a little frustrating where actually threading the needle was concerned. Although I am a senior citizen in my late 60's, my brain still functions fairly well. I had not taken into consideration that my eyes do not, even with my glasses on. I got out my trusty magnifying glass, which allowed me to see the hole in the needle well enough that I could use the included threader accessory to accomplish the task. Because the threader has to be inserted from the back side of the needle, this task was a bit frustrating. Using one hand to position the threader in the eye of the needle, while holding my magnifying glass with the other, made this step more difficult. Had I removed the pressure foot, it might have been easier to thread the needle from behind, but early on in the setup process I accidently moved the wrong lever which, to my surprise, promptly released the plate portion of the foot, making me think I had broken it. Gladly this was not the case. With the help of the instruction guide, I was able to reattach it. Once I accomplished the task of threading the needle, I grabbed a piece of fabric to test out the stitching. I have included a photo of a few of the available stitches. There are several more that I have yet to try. Please keep in mind that I had not taken the time to adjust the tension before using the machine, so the stitching is more uneven than it would have been had I not skipped that step. Overall I really like this Singer M1000 Mending Machine. It's fairly quiet when in use. The size of this machine is convenient, as I don't have much storage space in my apartment. The table it is sitting on in the photos is "ice cream parlor" size. The LED light is pretty bright! I have included an image using only the built in light on the machine as a light source. There is no on and off switch for the light, When the machine is plugged in, the light stays on until it's unplugged. The foot control works wonderfully. It's easy to adjust the speed using only the foot control. I appreciate that the lever to switch to backstitching is positioned in a manner that adds to the ease of sewing with this machine. There are a few accessories included that will come in handy. Extra needles and bobbins as well as a threader, a flat metal "screwdriver" & a cap which fits on top of the spool to secure it in place. I still need to review how to set the tension so that the stitching is even, but other than that I am confident that I will be sewing some DIY projects which are too complicated for hand stitching. While this machine might not be the best choice for someone who needs the ability to sew thicker fabrics or larger sewing projects, I would definitely recommend this Singer M1000 Mending Machine for simple sewing projects and mending.

    M1000 Singer Mending Machine
Oh I really enjoy using my M1000 Singer mending machine. The instructions on how to thread the machine were very thorough. The Singer sewing machine brand is very well known and reliable since it has been around for many, many years. The only thing I don't like about this machine is how to thread the needle which goes from back to front and not side to side like I've always been used to. Besides that one feature, I really enjoy using my new mending machine. It comes in handy for small jobs and it is so lightweight only 5 lbs.

    Product as presented online.
This little machine has met my expectations and it will remain my primary for "quick fix" and "easy diy" projects. The older machine will be retiring to a corner somewhere.

    Small footprint
This sewing machine has everything you need for basic sewing needs but in a smaller, more convenient to use and store, footprint. Picture is of this machine beside my larger Brother machine for size comparison.

    Convenient!
I am not a very experienced with sewing but am very crafty and DIY motivated so this mending machine is a wonderful edition to my craft room! It is very light and easy to set up- the manual gives very clear and easy to read instructions I was able to follow without any trouble. My only complaint would be the stitch dial. At first I was trying to turn it to get to the zip zag stitches and the dial wouldn't move past the straight stitches. I had to have my husband help me and eventually it began to turn but for some reason it requires a little bit of strength to get to those stitches. After turning it a few times it seems to move more easily and I was able to use a zig zag stitch to repair a pocket for my husband! This machine may be small but it has enough power for small repairs and crafts!

    Just perfect for mending
I got this the other day and I thought how perfect! Just the right size for fixing small things like a hem or a tear. Now I don't have to get my big machine out, set it up and then fix what I got to fix. I can leave it set up in my sewing room. Perfect. I would recommend this Singer mending machine to anyone even beginning sewing people. Awesome!

It's functional. It's wonderful to have a machine that works and sews a decent seam. I had an older machine that was very temperamental. The biggest draw-back is that heavier materials can't be sewn on this machine. But, it's great to repair things. Sews with the familar Singer reliability. Oh, and it prefers the plastic bobbins as opposed to the older metal bobbins. It will bunch up w/the metal one on the underside of the seam. Could also use a different type of lighting than what it has. It just doesn't have the illumation that one really needs. It's not bad enough to return but functional enough to keep and send my older machine to the repair shop.
