Makes life easier for handicapped
This is a great help. Works very well. I am handicapped with trouble walking so I can drive my lawn tractor around while spreading various materials using one hand on steering wheel and the other operating the spreader. I wish the capacity was a little bigger. So very pleased and I will recommend it and re purchase if needed.

    Great Hand Spreader
This is a hand held spread. Since it battery operated, it's easy to use, and not to heavy when filled for a female to spread. Each spread covers several feet and you can finish the whole area quickly.

    Battery operated but heavy.
It was too heavy for me, especially when loaded but it would probably work for someone who is stronger, no injury of arm/shoulder.

The concept is great but the plastic piece to narrow the area of spread causes the spreader to stop. The spinner motor is too weak. I plan to return to Scott's.

    NO way to determine settings!
Don't waste your time or money. I never write reviews and I've always bought Scotts but this is an embarrassment of a product. Absolutely no way to determine what settings to use. They give a half dozen examples of their products, other than that you're left guessing. How am I supposed to spread my non-Scotts stuff? I'm gonna buy a non-Scotts spreader and only non-Scotts products from now on.

Turning in a handle is just fine for me.
you can't fill it all the way up too the top because it will not run. or will run very slow. the battery don't last very long, but if you fill it up halfway it seem to work better.

A filthy used item sold as new.
Purchased a item. What I received was used and dirty with filth in it. It was shipped with no box. I am absolutely disgusted by the piece of garbage they sent me.

Didn't know it was very used.
It arrived with dirt wear. I don't mind buying used but I had the impressions I was buying new. And for $5 more I'll get it from Amazon. I returned it the next day.

This is amazing so light but works so well. I'm 73 and don't get around well but it was so easy. I pot weed and feed in it and new grass coming up and many weeds gone. Definitely worth the money

I have had my for over 1 year now. Bought mine after I watched my son use his. Very simple and effective. I start in the far corner of my yard and walk backwards. Than do each row walking backwards, with slight overlap. That way I don't get any on my shoes!!! Simple!

    Fairly good, minor flaws
Super excited that this is battery operated because my other handheld spreader hurt my hand after cranking on it for a while. This one is more comfortable. I'm still getting used to it. It works fairly good, definitely does a good heavy spread if you want it, but I find I'm constantly having to shake it to get the fertilizer to move down toward the hole. Then it's not coming out as evenly as when the container is completely full. Either way, it's a great idea, and less expensive than the alternatives and it does a good job. I will be taking batteries out for the winter so they last longer. And it came with batteries already inside it which was super great!

    dead on arrival
I would give 0 start if I can. On delivery package: There is 0 protection. I received a box with no protect bubbles, foams, nor paper scraps to reduce collation damage, it's just the spreader sits inside the box. On the product: The battery compartment including the battery cover is located inside (literally inside) the spreader. there is no way to open the battery cover with bare fingers. You have to prop open the battery cover and hurt your finger. The included battery does not power the spreader. After replaced the batteries, this spreader powered on with empty load. Then only worked like 5 seconds after I loaded 2 cups of ant killer. ended up manually do the work with this thing.

    Wizz=Junk
What a piece of junk! I was expecting it to spread the grass seed evenly. But I end up with more piled up under the spreader disc than on the ground. I should have known better - Scott's used to make quality products. Not anymore. Now all you get from them is plastic junk!

When you insert or need to replace the batteries, you need to apply some pressure to tighten or loosen the screws; when you do, the compartment holding the batteries collapses inside the spreader, making it impossible to remove or add the batteries. An inferior design.

    Works well for me
Obviously, the convenience of battery operated over turning a crank handle is easier. That said, with four AA batteries and a tiny DC motor to spin the spreader, don't expect this to be all that robust. It gets the job done. Maybe the worst part is the screws to hold the battery compartment cover. A bit of a poor design, they are a pain to remove and do it on a bench or table so you don't lose them. Some complain this may just quit and after fresh batteries, the first thing to check is the loose wire inside that runs up to the switch. It just presses on. All in all, for the sale price that is similar to the crank model, it is reasonable enough to give a try. It will easily spread grass seed and flake ice melt, but for fertilizer, you will have to mark off a section and test to realize/calibrate the application rate for whatever you are using.

This is a great product. My only concern is what happens when the batteries (which are included and installed in the bottom) run out? Can I replace the batteries without replacing the entire spreader? Will have to wait and see!
